2022 Nationals in Nashville

Many of the closest hotels to the arena are currently going for $300-$500 a night for that first week of January. Is it going to remain that high or are the hotel owners being overly-ambitious with their prices right now? That also doesn't include the parking fee that seems to cost anywhere from $35-$41 a day at a downtown hotel.

I'm trying to figure out if I want to get a closer hotel that I can walk to and from the arena (and therefore get more remote-work done in my hotel room). Or if I should choose a much further away hotel that includes free parking, and then pay for parking near the arena and then use either the arena or a panera bread or something to try to get some remote-work done between events.
I'm kinda afraid to move my car once it's in a parking garage for fear of it filling up later or having to pay twice simply because I'm coming and going a lot.
I'd like to get a close hotel that I can walk to the arena, but the prices are so high right now, plus the additional parking fee just to park at the hotel.

IME, hotel prices for these dates have been in the same high range since the event was announced some time ago. Rates are also still similarly high the week following, which leads me to believe it's not just Nats related. In past years, USFS has negotiated below market rates and room blocks for spectators, but the rumors are mixed as to whether they'll be doing that this time.

Most parking lots, other than hotel lots if you're a registered guest, don't allow in and out privileges. As far as staying father out and driving in, keep in mind that some events end quite late in case that's a factor in your decision to drive.

@Arwen17, I know nothing about the hotel market in Nashville, but there's at least one major music venue very near the arena. Unless it's dark during Nationals--which seems unlikely--there may be considerable demand for hotel rooms beyond what's attributable to skating fans.

I've always booked my hotel way ahead of time, so I don't have any personal experience with last-minute hotel rates for Nationals, but occasionally someone mentions snagging a great deal here on FSU. My roommate and I really, really like being a short walk from the arena. We try to find a room with a mini-fridge so we can stash some healthy food there and eat quickly during short breaks that don't necessarily coincide with standard mealtimes. That may not be such a challenge in Nashville, since there's a major source of food very near the arena, but in some cities it's a problem.

In your position I'd shop around for an affordable hotel outside the high-priced district but not terribly far away and make a refundable reservation there. Then I'd keep watching the rates at the more convenient hotels and jumb if I found a deal. I suspect the deals, if any, won't show up until January. You could also try Priceline, but you'd have to be really careful about the cancellation deadline for your initial hotel reservation.

Wi-Fi quality has varied a lot from arena to arena.

If you download the NHL app and go to the Predators link you can see the food options and restroom locations (I always factor restroom location when purchasing my seat). Not much in the way of anything healthy. There is a grilled cheese place that has a soup option and a pizza place with a salad option.

Has anyone seen a link for all-event tickets sales for the general public? Wasn't that supposed to come out today?

It’s usually not until 10 or 11.

If anyone has a Costco membership there is a good rate for the Holiday Inn Express Downtown Convention Center with rental car. Six nights/car rental averages around $177 a night.

The dates of the event have been known for a very long time, so we're not going to catch a hotel manager who's oblivious to the situation.

I'm not a rent-an-apartment person, but for those who are, there are options in the "Gulch" listed on booking.com. I assume there are more on Airbnb. The area is less than a mile from the arena.

There's a Whole Foods west of the arena at 12th and Broadway.

i got a great airbnb not far from the arena......great price.

There are some neat AirBnBs near the arena I was looking at last night in my insomnia. I don't know Nashville well to know if they are decent areas however for a single woman such as myself. I was overcome with sticker shock looking at hotel prices! $400-500 a night! What is that madness! I paid so much less in Boston for Worlds, in San Jose for Nationals, etc...

For those in the know would renting a car be useful or not? I've always done ride share to the airport and as I've always volunteered I just took the buses to the arena and spent the day there. (I plan on applying to volunteer again this time. We'll see!)

I don’t believe they are doing any social distancing

Have they released hotel information?
From what I have heard, there will not be reserved hotel blocks for spectators, Still to be corroborated.

BTW, checked out the Renaissance website and the  Member Flexible rate is currently $375/night!

As I recall, the Boston local organizing committee actually negotiated rates with hotels, and it did a good job, considering how expensive Boston hotels are. For most other Nationals, there was no evidence (to my eyes) that there had been a competent negotiator involved, looking out for fans. In fact, in at least one recent city there was a really egregious (non-)cancellation policy for the official hotels--something that is virtually unheard of in US cities under normal circumstances. No, I won't be booking a hotel room I can't cancel a few days before the event!

If it's like the salad in most pizza places, it's iceberg lettuce with some threads of cabbage and carrots. Not what I call a salad.

I have a reservation at an AirBnB a few blocks from the arena. It was only $100 a night. It's a condo too so my sister and I can make meals and store snacks and stuff. It's in the same area as a bunch of hotels so I'm assuming it's fine. (The pictures of the public areas are nice.) It's within walking distance of the arena too!

I concur that the hotel prices in Nashville are shocking, higher than I would pay for a hotel in midtown Manhattan (except maybe a 5-star near Central Park East) or a resort hotel like the Fontainbleu in Miami Beach. I also had insomnia last night and browsed until I booked a local, non-chain hotel called the Cambria Hotel Nashville Downtown on 8th Avenue South just two blocks from the Bridgestone Arena. It's got a couple of cool bars inside including one with live music, and my rates before taxes/fees were $187 for weeknights and $212 for the weekend--and most importantly, I can cancel with penalty until January 2, 2022. The reviews generally looked very good, but I ask anyone familiar with Nashville to let me know if there are serious downsides (besides the $40 for valet parking!) at the Cambria.

I will watch the Renaissance rates closely and consider moving there at least for the weekend nights if its prices drop out of the stratosphere at some point. But at least we are close enough to walk, maybe 2-3 blocks away, to hit the bars and restaurants over there to get the Nationals vibe and see friends as the events draw to a close each evening. Even my usual go-to travel hotels like the Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Hilton Garden Inn are either far above normal prices or just a little too far away--but they still are reasonable alternatives to those major hotels going for $400+ with taxes.

That sounds like an amazing deal. I'm thinking I will go for the week and Mr. Lanie and Mini Lanie will come out on Friday/Saturday! I am going to check out that area near the arena/hotels. I was just like this guy when I was looking at the prices:

Downtown Nashville has always had fairly high hotel prices anytime I've looked. However the prices people are quoting now are beyond what I've previously seen.

When I was looking at hotel rates a few weeks ago, I noticed anything being booked within the current month seemed "normal" pricing, and everything beyond a month was a LOT more expensive.

Also hotel chains (airlines too) run algorithms which see when and where people are scoping out dates and rates. Assuming many have been doing this for Nationals and... whoop, up the rates go.

Unless one has nothing better to do with one's money, is in the "business" of skating, or has a personal connection with a participant, I don't see a reason to attend, when I can stay at home and watch every single skater via live streaming, on the big screen. Back in the 70s/80s/90s, I attended many skating events because that was the only way to see all competitors and programs. Being able to see it was the reason that I got on a plane. Not now. One could even argue that the views are best at home; no bad sightlines.

Watching the recent 2021 Nationals via Peacock streaming, in real time, without ads or commentators, gave me the exact same happiness that I used to get when attending live events years ago. I wanted to see all skaters and not just the 4 or 5 per discipline that ABC TV used to dole out in a year.
And for me, the all-event cheap seats are $770 plus hotel, travel etc. I'll watch via streaming and hope it comes back to Greensboro. The attendance and energy there was great, every time.

I booked a room back in January and rates were a lot lower then, for example the Hilton was $300 and is now $599 . Hopefully once they see people aren’t booking, rates will drop again. I got a good rate at the Holston House, right next to the Renaissance. Rates have gone up but are cheaper the more nights you book and could definitely go down in the coming months.

I booked a room at the Renaissance for $170 a night just last week. (It's just a reservation in case it becomes the official hotel.)

The hotel I booked is .8 of a mile from the Arena but an excellent deal - TownPlace Suites Nashville Downtown/Capitol District. I’m paying $114 per night which includes a complimentary hot breakfast and free wifi. I’ll have a kitchen too and the parking is $38 per day. I’m coming with my boyfriend and dog so we needed a pet friendly hotel.

I honestly don’t think you need a car in downtown Nashville. There are now some grocery stores within walking distance, food is within walking distance and if you get a hotel within walking distance of the arena then you should be fine. Since I’ll be driving I’ve even considered just leaving my car at a cheaper airport parking lot and taking a rideshare to the hotel when I get there.

Now if the practices at the other location are open and you want to go to them, Then you may need a car. Public transportation to Nashville has never been outstanding.
