2022 Nationals in Nashville

Glad this worked out for you. If the weather cooperates we will drive from Maryland but otherwise I will fly myself. My boyfriend isn’t a fan so can do his thing while I’m at the arena but he will be my Uber driver. I am a walker but depending on the neighborhood I don’t want to be walking late at night myself so if you need a ride back at the end of the day, I will be happy to give you one.

Two nights there or go to Europe instead, and watch FS on streaming? No brainer for me, as much as I love to watch FS in person.
I am with you.

If I hadn't booked when it was cheaper and couldn't drive...

(And of course I use my Marriott points to stay free in Europe, if they ever let crazy Americans back in. Can't blame them for not wanting us)

Just spoke to a friend who is going with a tour. They are being housed at the Omni, so I was wondering if that's where most of the tour groups are negotiating deals. I also wonder if this is where the judges and officials are staying. That being said, I checked the current rate at the Omni on their site and a king room is going for $515 a night! Hotels.com, Expedia.com, Orbitz.com,
Tripadvisor.com & Travelocity.com are all listing rooms at $450/night while Priceline.com is listing at $406/night. There are obviously large room blocks that are being carved out, leaving those who want to book at the Omni outside of these to cross subsidize the groups. I don't think there is any availability at the Renaissance since it is the official hotel and the rooms would be reserved for the skaters and their families/coaches.

They may not bother with championship event packages since Nationals now only includes junior and senior (championship) events. It's not like the junior events add much to the cost of the ticket package, anyways.

Any current info on when “spring” sale of a Championship Package will occur?
Not yet.

Why does the USFS keep insisting on the Ladies FS being held on a Friday? The most anticipated of the Senior events of the week is the first one to finish? At least hold the ladies FS on the weekend like they used to do not on a Friday when people are getting off work. Dumb move USFS.

Because NBC wants it on Friday

The dumb move would be to turn down the TV money.

And since when is this the "most anticipated"? Let's see what events do we have a chance to win in on the world stage... men and dance. Ladies and pairs??? hmm.... Ladies could possibly medal if the stars align but unlikely. Pairs? Well if the Russians and Chinese stay home we can medal

I didn't realize that 1997 Nationals was the "first-ever sporting event at what was then called Nashville Arena":

I remember bits of confetti wafting down from the rafters off and on. The only previous event had been some sort of concert; there must have been confetti cannons involved.

They were learning by doing and struggled a bit with temperature control; it was chillier than usual at Nationals.

Was rechecking hotel rates for the 5 days I have booked at the Hilton and found that the price had decreased over 200 dollars per night! It’s still expensive, but wow…canceled my current and rebooked at the cheaper price!
If I were you all, I’d check the rates you all have booked at in other hotels…maybe they’ve been decreased also.

I’m sure we went over this last time but Nationals tends to take place smack dab in the middle of NFL playoff season and Friday is a day where they don’t usually air football on prime time.

I might fly in for the Women's event. Other than that, why even bother?

Two words: the Knierims

-BB
YES! I'm interested in that couple. It's just that after Cain's tragic fall, I really can't enjoy pairs much anymore. It shouldn't. But yes, good for Knierim and Partner. I totally understood her husband retiring due to back injury. As someone with herniated discs from L2-S1 and a fractured L5 vertebra, I believe anyone who claims back pain. Good for Mrs.Knierim and partner and best wishes.

Nathan Chen? The amazing ice dance field?
I'll see Nathan at either SkAm or SkCan or both. Jason at SkCan. I don't follow dance. One of these days I want to follow dance more, since if I'm ever able to get my skates on again I'd only do dance. But that's not likely. Just thinking of the cold rink hurts my back! haha

As someone posted above, the hotel prices have dropped dramatically since Nationals tickets went on sale. If someone is driving and doesn't mind commuting to the arena the Music Row area and hotels near Vanderbilt University are priced more like what we normally see for US Nationals prices. The downtown prices are still too steep for my taste.

I ordered the Nashville tourism guide, but if you were thinking about getting one, I'd skip it. Some nice photos, but the "information" inside is practically nonexistent. (And, of course, Nationals is never mentioned! :P ) Sadly the Art Deco exhibit is closing at the Frist the day I arrive for Nationals, so not getting to see that either. :wuzrobbed
