Nathan's first half jumps: 4Lz fell out, 4F+3T, 3Lz, 4S

2nd half jumps: 4T-half loop-3F, 4T+3T & 3A.

Replace that 3Lz with the 4Lo, and you have as difficult a jump layout as anyone would be capable of doing today. It's a very impressive jumping program.

So...how does someone like Chen keep motivated, when his main competition is himself? The bar is so high, both technically and artistically. Like, this program (which I love) felt phoned in. But Nathan phoning in a program still has insane positions and attention to details that few other skaters even have available to them. I also think there's a huge difference with Chen live vs on tv/computer - in person I'm sure that was even more incredible.

he was already so far ahead that a stumble on the first jump doesn't matter - but also, the rest of the program was so great he could just leave out a jump and it would be fine.

There's that, but then there's the actual Federation - didn't they basically torpedo their best Junior Pairs team because the skaters wanted to be coached by his mom, and the Federation wouldn't allow it. There is a reason that the top Ukrainian skaters all skate for other nations over the past couple decades.
