It’s an undershirt, like Russian military guys wear. In Italy too? I don’t know.
Look.... You said you often watch this movie, so i will not recap.... but!!! the main character in La Strada is NOT a "street urchin" and she does not work "in the circus".... that's my point. If Fellini read you comment, he would certainly turn in his grave.......

As to stripes in Alysa's costume, i suggest you read some "history of stripes", it mentions something about sailors, Napoli, etc.. :).

I guess it depends on what Frau means by "street urchin" but the character does work with a traveling circus for a spell in the movie.

Right. She’s a poor soul on the street...sold by her mother to a brute itinerant performer. She is working (helping out) in a circus carnival setting. The point - which Alysa captures so well - is that the character remains sweet and happy-go-lucky in the midst of misery.

Bradie is our national champion again. This program really evolved in just the way she (and her choreographer) planned. Her spins are sublime too.

Not an enviable spot for Mariah to skate in after hearing Bradie's score, but I never expected that skate from her at this point in her career. She might end up 6th.

I don't think that's quite fair. There is a world of difference between "Hamilton", "Matilda", "Hadestown" etc and taking a pop song (which works the way it was written), slowing it down, taking it out of context and playing it like it could stand well on its own. Even with a good singer...did not work for me. No reason for it to mean I hate musicals- on the contrary. And even Sondheim, though by now his work is "classics", is never, ever used enough.
BTW, this came out more serious than I meant. It's all great:))

I was neither talking to you nor specifically about the Moulin Rouge cover of "Firework". You're reacting to things that aren't there. I don't particularly think Moulin Rouge the Broadway Musical needs defending. Karen Olivo is a brilliant singer, but I didn't care about that movie and don't care about that musical. Moulin Rouge is not anything I'd put under "good taste".
