2017-2018 Program Music and Choreographers

Sasha Cohen and Patrick Chan also have another thing in common. :coffee: :lynch: okay I'm done snarking.

I kind of like that C/B aren't doing LLL, maybe it'll actually work out to their benefit.. one less LLL is fine with me, I just hope it's not another Rach-type of FD.

Natacha Lagouge / Corentin Rahier
FD - Theme : the life of Coco Chanel
A Schoenfelder/Zazoui team with a Chanel program!? I'm pretty sure this is going to be my favorite free dance of the season unless Gilles and Poirier can come up with their best program yet (which would also be excellent).

Ivana Komova says, "CHANEL program bring elegant to ice wonder costume best assessories since turkoize glove of Medvedeva!!! New to senior France team will de-feet godless Sizzerwrong and crotch he show in hundred of horror instasnap fotos!"

Here are some elements of Chanel's life I want to see incorporated into the program:
Learning to sew in a stark orphanage (serpentine steps)
Moonlighting as a second-tier cabaret entertainer (curve lift)
Dispensing glasses of mineral water at the Vichy spa (dance spin)
Meeting Étienne Balsan and becoming his favorite spoiled mistress (circular steps)
Opening her first boutique in 1913 (also in the circular steps)
Time spent as a Nazi agent (rotational lift)
Popularization of the suntan (twizzles)
Lonely and authoritarian mood of her twilight years (stationary lift)

Can someone confirm that Satoko Miyahara's SP was choreographed by Lori Nichol to "Sayuri's Theme" from the Memoirs of a Geisha OST?

Google translation of final sentence: Miyahara said, "It's a strong women's movie going aiming and I hope I can express it to fit the atmosphere of the movie."

LOL @Sylvia, I think you are correct and you are a genius for figuring that out!

Do we know what James and Cipres and Tessa and Scott are skating to? I hope the French keep their Sound of Silence LP from last season. fingers crossed.

Very unlikely that V/M would reveal music before High Performance Camp in late August. While I LOVED J/C's Sound of Silence and their marked improvement with their new team last season, I now want to see where else they can go choreographically. I am quite excited about this. :)

I do think it's beautiful though and will highlight his skating skills really well. It's just kind of  to see people lose their sh!t when it's so sad and melancholy. "OMG yes, it's depression!" :cheer:

 Well, going through losing one's sh!t can be sad, melancholy and depressing. But then maybe there's a bit of relief and lightness of spirit afterward. :summer: Dust in the Wind is not intended to be depressing anyways. It's just reflectively telling the truth or telling one's own truth as personally experienced. Sorry if anyone finds my observations depressing. :P

Patrick is preparing to :kickass: as best he can. And he apparently wants to show up fighting in his own way with no regrets. Then later he can pursue skydiving and other active pursuits with a relatively sound body and a lightness of spirit. :saint: Lay it down as only you can Mr. Chan. Hallelujah!

It is "Memoirs of a Geisha", but it is not specifically "Sayuri's Theme" music selection from the soundtrack of the film.
You see, in the japanese text it states 画「SAYURI」- 画 means A Film/Movie called "Sayuri". In Japan when the film was released, it was not called "Memoirs of a Geisha", but "Sayuri" as an official name. So it is confirming the name of the Film but not the specific music piece "Sayuri's Theme".

Satoko 'Memoirs of a Geisha' SP

I love the 'Memoirs of a Geisha' OST, such good music. Perfect for Satoko. The program needs some mileage, but it's july, so let's wait.
Love the dress, the flow of the skirt, but don't like the dress for the 'Memoirs of a Geisha' program, would like something more conservative here.
C'mon Satoko, kick ass!

Caroline and Gordon Green free dance music: Prince Igor with Sarah Brightman's song in the middle (Stranger in Paradise).

Does anyone know the music of Allie Rose and JT Michel's free dance? I'm fascinated. It's a rendition of Bonnie and Clyde.

Haines/Koszuta FD music: The Way You Look Tonight (Sinatra) + It's a Wonderful World (instrumental) + something else.

Well alrighty then. Here's the perfect music for last minute panic attacks.

Just like a roulette wheel, we also have a Spinning Wheel.

 "What goes up, must come down ... Talking 'bout your troubles and you never learn. Ride a painted pony, let the spinning wheel turn... Would you mind a reflecting sign? Just let it shine within your mind and show you the colors that are rrrreal..." :rollin:

Or maybe it'll work out for them haha. Get the adrenaline going. Tweaking that SD non-stop helped H/D at Worlds.

H/D simply held to their vision and made refinements to their last season's SD. They did not change anything completely, only edits and refinements. Their concept and overall choice remained the same and they didn't waver in the face of fan criticism -- but they did listen to what the judges were saying.

Hopefully C/B have a concept in mind but are having trouble mainly with music to match their concept?

That's true. C/B had to change their SD three times before 2015-2016 season and ended up with a GPF silver, 4CC silver, and World bronze, so we know they can do it. It'll just be much harder than if they didn't have to do it. Better change it now than mid-season. We know how that goes for ice dancers during the Olympic season.

That said, H/D's choreography changed quite a bit throughout the season.
