2017-2018 Program Music and Choreographers

Why all that flack towards Morozov programs from people here? :D :scream:.

In a nutshell? He is successful, has world and olympic medalists, talented, good looking, financially independent, "always gets his girl" and many of them, lives how HE chooses, does not care what others say, continues to be in demand but can afford to retire.... And it pisses people off because he does not fit into current PC-standards of "certain groups of today".... :D

I like most of his programs :p Aranjuez LP was the best program of Weaver / Poje in the last couple of years imo.
I also like some of his programs, but many skating fans consider most of them either tasteless or too empty, with too much posing instead of skating, or both. I agree about empty, and, in some cases, about tasteless, but overall it does not bother me so much and I don't hate most of his programs as much as other people. I guess I am a bit more tolerant (I mean no offense to the people who are not), although at the same time I am not easily impressed or moved.

As for W/P's programs, I am one of those rare fans who liked their last few FDs under Krylova and Carmelengo. Last season's FD was okay to me, I noticed their improved flow and ease in the execution of lifts, but it also seemed like the improved flow in their skating was at least partially at the expense of transitions, as the FD was definitely emptier than their older ones. I hope that now with Nichol's choreography they will be able to combine both and to find the right balance - add some more transitions, but not at the expense of speed and flow. Before, the intricate transitions, especially the changes of holds, were almost like one of their trademarks (I think it also helped with their PCS), and they did not lack speed either, but sometimes they did not have that (seeming) efortlessness in the execution that V/M, P/C and, yes, Shibutanis have.

I can see where that ''empty'' comes from and I remember it being brought out by the other people.

Anyway I liked Krylova / Camerlengo programs too.

I would agree with most of it, but you also forgot to add that he is slimey old goat who likes his girls to be roughly half of his age, and when they dare to outgrow their teenage years, he replaces them. But never mind, he is still safely below the number Henry the eight managed to marry.

And he hasn't beheaded one yet:lol:

I used to like his work in the 90s, especially with Yagudin, Kwan, Takahasi, some of Mikki Ando's, etc. But, the last few years, not so much. Maybe I'm still just having nightmares about the Ghost program he did for I/K in 2012-2013 (IIRC). Ironically, for a former ice dancer, his best programs have been for single skaters.

May all Old Goats look like this http://fs-gossips.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/davankova-morozov-640x307.jpg

As to age difference…. First Mrs. Morozov – same age 41, SLB – 41, Grushina – 42, Ando -29, Gede – 27… Only two younger – Ilynih and Davankova….. why do girls chase, fight for, and love a man twice their own age? Probably because he is quite a man… :D

….. or is it TV? Carrie Bradshaw/mid 30’s and Aleksandr Petrovsky/over 60. Or like Candice Bergen, you feel “the men my age should be dating us, older women”? Well….. if one can have that…. http://assets.nydailynews.com/polop...gen/derivatives/article_750/tcdsean-ho035.jpg
… then why go for this?...

And another question: what about women teachers who love students roughly have of their age? ... They become Prime Ministers' wives....... http://www.newagebd.com/files/records/news/201704/14293_155.jpg

Joshua's music was announced ages ago - keeping Give Me Love for the SP, the lost Pines of Rome FS.
Not sure why he's keeping his Give me Love program considering it's almost 3 years old now. I would have though he would have gotten a new SP for the next season that never happened because of his concussions.

He was going to keep it for that season. When you add up the number of times he did it it's not actually a huge number: NHK 2014, US Nats 2015, 4CC 2015, and Worlds 2015. Of those four performances, only two were close to the program's full potential with the 4CC one being the best. So to me, it's entirely logical that he's keeping it; and the fact he's been out for two years makes it even more logical to me, because he will be able to ease back into competing with something familiar to him.

Pines of Rome was originally meant for the 2015-2016 season too, but I am so glad it will not be a "lost" program.

I will give Morosov credit for coming up with that crazy Ghost FD for I/K without the ghost part. I mean, mouthing words of dialogue (before it was trendy), having Nikita act out "Hey, you!" and then getting shot with Elena miming "help, he's been shot!" and then leading to that overwrought, and yet insipid ballad from the musical for the final footwork sequence. That was probably the last time (and probably first time) he was actually thinking outside the box. On paper, the concept is actually pretty solid with showcasing how much the couple was in love and then killing one of them off and having to deal with the immediate aftermath. It's just what he actually choreographed and made Elena and Nikita do was the problem. Program was still empty, like every other program he does, and had a dance spin that never ended for some reason.

I've noticed there is no info on the South Korean pairs/dance couples at the program spreadsheet. Someone has to check for the other music composition not named here.

The FD program is a big step backwards imho.
They were on a good way last season, but this vehicle, puh, I don't know.

And I do not even comment on the costumes nor his hair.
If a program is gonna tank, at least bring the costumes and the hair!! :drama:

I would give him credit for his professional skills. To make a program for Davankova that completely hides the fact that she was first season ice dancer, that's some serious skill he showed. In fact, if he didn't have history with Ilynikh, he would be probably the best coach/choreographer for Ilynikh/Shibnev, because he is probably the only one who could make a program and hide the fact that Shibnev can't skate. I am just feeling really uncomfortable with his professional ethics, dating his students and going for younger and younger with every new model. A few more of them and he will be dating underage girls.

Don't many assume he was with Davankova while she was a minor? There were the rumors, and then they were vacationing in the same place at the same time, each posting pictures on Instagram that didn't show the other person. Then they got married shortly after she turned 18?

Chinese test skates are this week, according to Twitter these are music choices so far:

Sui/Han
SP: Hallelujah

Yu/Zhang
SP: Swan Lake

Peng/Jin
SP: Tango

Boyang Jin
SP: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Zijun Li
SP: East of Eden

Thank you! I'm guessing Sui and Han are skating to Jeff Buckley and not Handel. ;)

I'll hold off for now on adding the Chinese music selections to the spreadsheet, because this Twitter user has deleted her tweets about it (apparently at the request of Hongbo Zhao!).

However, the Chinese test skates are scheduled for today/tomorrow, so we should hopefully have confirmation of the music choices soon. (And maybe some videos, if we're lucky.) :)

Oh? :saint: Sui & Han are doing Hallelujah? The soft, slow, romantic, beautiful music that others have done. Aljona and Bruno are doing something with fire and passion (also with personality and the sex from the clips so far). :EVILLE:

Okay then.:watch::)

Swan Lake for Yu/Zhang could be breathtaking IMO. She's such a lovely skater and they have what it takes to pull it off.

No, no, you have it wrong. ZHANG is the swan.

Nope, no videos as they are not allowed.

We've definitely gotten fancam videos from the Chinese test skates in the past, including last year I think. But perhaps they will be more strict in the Olympic season. (If so--boo!! :p ;) I will hate it if we have to wait all the way to the Grand Prix to see programs for the first time!!)
