2015 - 2016 TV Season

Chicago Fire people .... at the end of Tuesday's episode, Gaby and Antonio talking at the bar and he asks how Chilly is because of what happened to her or something like that? What did he say? I couldn't hear a word he said. I wish they would cut down on the freaking background noise because that happens a lot. We know they are in a bar, we now bars are noisy, but its a freaking TV show and I want to hear what the actors are saying please! :p

He told her that Chilly's sister had just died. (According to Antonio, they found her body in a flop house, whatever that is). And that's all very sad (and I just lost my grandmother, so I certainly can relate to a sense of loss), but I hope they don't expect me to excuse Chilly's behavior. If she's at work, I, as a colleague have the right to expect her to have my back and as someone who needs a paramedics help, I have the right to expect her to be able to do her job properly and not almost kill people and then lie to cover it up. Just saying. It annoyed me a little that they seemed to throw that out there to excuse her behavior. I'm sure she has bereavement leave she can take.

ETA: That was quick. They already decided to green-light the development of Chicago Law http://deadline.com/2016/01/chicago-law-spinoff-coming-together-nbc-dick-wolf-1201687512/

I know what you mean about the background noise - and on Elementary Sherlock virtual whispers his lines - I hate cranking up the volume for my poor ears and have to keep rewinding a lot so have developed a new strategy of turning on the closed captioning for especially bad segments, thick accents, or Jonny Miller (sp?)

A flop house is a place that people who have almost no money flop down in to sleep. Generally they are gross but don't cost very much.

I had to stop watching Rosewood (is that still on?) because they all mumbled so bad I didn't know what was going on.

Ah you are correct - that is indeed another show where I resorted to closed captions. It isn't just the mumbling but also the super fast delivery.

Waiting on episode 2 of the X-files. Sigh. I think back then with the original showings was the last time I actually routinely watched shows on TV (other than Survivor).

Jane the Virgin was excellent tonight! Huge twist at the end of the episode; now that I'm digesting the information I'm not shocked, but it wasn't what I expected! (If that makes any sense lol). Loving this season so far.

X-Files is on my to-watch list as soon as I finish up with Mad Men. I've never seen it, really looking forward to watching.

The X-Files tonight was even better tonight! What a tearjerker! 2-for-2!

Tonight's episode was a classic X Files episode in so many ways! It started with Scully saying we need more time with the crime scene and Mulder saying no we're done, leaving poor Scully  and running after him. Just like 20 years ago! Then Scully and Mulder in Skinner's office with the stranger who is trying to shut them down. Skinner sides with the stranger until he leaves, and then he tells Scully and Mulder that they have a few days to investigate. Just like 20 years ago! Secret hospitals with secret patients undergoing secret experiments. Just like 20 years ago! And we loved it!

And I laughed out loud at the scene with the cat and the apple. So random!

Loved Lucifer! Ahem... the TV show that is. :p Not sure of the wisdom of putting it against The X-Files, but I cannot remember laughing so much during a show that is supposed to be a drama. LOL

I have to admit, I wasn't entirely sold on the/his acting and the pace of the first X-Files episode (wasn't bad, just not awesome either) but the second one was great. Loved it!

Next week's X-files looks even better! (although I've always been more partial to the "monster of the week" episodes, rather than the conspiracy ones)

I thought Lucifer had definite potential. The premise is more than a bit eye-rolling -- not that Lucifer is hanging out in LA, that's fine, but that he can just pair up with a police detective on a whim like that. So I'm not sure how sustainable that is. But as a character he's delightful in a devilish way, and everything looks so gorgeous (especially Tom Ellis!), so I'll probably watch again.

But the other eye-roller was his English accent. Really, America, why must all your villains be foreign? :wall:

"It's good to be bad!" :p

I really liked this, too. Ellis delivers cheesy lines so well, both my husband and I burst out laughing at how "wicked" he sounded more than just a few times. Tongue in cheek fun.

Okay I just started watching Mercy Street(I DVR'd the first two episodes). I'm 10 minutes in and the two of the young ladies are irritating me ALREADY. I understand that they lived gentle lives. However, it is war and they HAVE to know that people die. The young miss walking through the street in a WHITE dress during a time of death is just beyond me. I"ll continue to watch and see if I can "hang" with it. But lord give the strength.

Also, I thank God I was not born 200 years ago. First of all because I am african american(I couldn't handle being a slave and all that goes along with being a female slave). Second because I am a woman. That kind of restriction on my person would have been so hard to bear.

Totally OT but once upon a time someone in New York ordered that city's cleaners to wear all white uniforms. LOL So wearing white on 19th century streets is not completely unheard of. :p (I know... I do have too much time in my hands. :D )

The sanitation workers were called “White Wings,” a title that stuck for decades. Workers had to wear not only a white shirt and white pants, but also a white pith helmet — an outfit more appropriate to safari than street cleaning. The white made the men easy to spot in the street, but Mr. Rice noted, “The mens’ wives rebelled at having to clean them.”

Okay, I am caught up on Mercy street. I'll stick with it as Emma and Mary are not as irritating. However, Alice(Emma's sister) is working my nerves though.

I watched the first two episodes, hoping it would get better. The 2nd ep was marginally better than the 1st, but still not enough to keep me with it. It's well crafted, but has no emotional connect for me. I just don't give a toss about any of the characters.
