Oh, I hope that's not where they're going. I love Zeljko Ivanek and how he's playing the Russell character.

Me too. And it would be kind of old if Bess had to do the "break-in the Chief of Staff" all over again. I like Russell and I like how he and Bess work together, even if they don't work together but I love how their relationship has grown and what it has become. Would be such a pity if he actually left.

I'm also curious to see what they're going to do with the now empty National Security Advisor position. If they'll address that on the show or if someone will just "appear". (and if Sterling will play a role in future episodes, it would just seem so random to have his character and then get rid of him fairly quickly if he didn't)

I still like to watch the silly Christmas specials every year (like Rudolph, etc.). I watched The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (cartoon one) the other night and I haven't seen that one in a few years. It seemed .... odd somehow. I mean I've watched those things for years, I pretty much know them by heart, but The Grinch is not how I remember it. Did they change it? I can't explain it, but it was just ..... I don't know .... not right! There was something about it that seemed like it was changed?

I missed it. I'll have to see if it's on again. I, too, have seen it every year and can recite/sing the whole thing, so I would notice something different.

(My mom gave our dachshund, Oscar, the middle name of Max back in 1977 after the Grinch's dog!)

A few years ago, I did think that it was so much brighter looking, almost too bright pink of a sky and stuff. I guess they started enhancing the color digitally or something.

I've never wanted to watch the live movie Grinch. Maybe that's what's making you think the cartoon was changed?

I haven't seen the Jim Carrey movie either, so that wasn't it. It wasn't so much the actual visuals of the cartoon, or that the story was changed. It was the soundtrack. It was like the music was wrong and the speaking parts were wrong. I can't explain it, but it was just ..... I don't know how to describe it ... wrong somehow. I see they are running Rudolph again, so maybe they will run the Grinch again also so I can pay closer attention. I know I haven't seen it the last maybe 2-4 years, but I can't be that badly mistaken that I watched the whole thing going "there's something wrong here". It was weird how different it seemed to me.

doo doo doo doo (Twilight Zone), huh?
I DVR'd the one on TBS that's coming up (I'd have to go look) on the 13th, 18th, I forget. I'll get back to you after! :)

You know I had to go look. TBS on the 13th at 7:30p (DVRd); TNT on the 19th at 6:30p. It's been on TNT for years. Why not on the three major networks like the other classics?

^ Thanks! The one I watched was on NBC after the Rockerfeller Center show last Wednesday. Maybe it was NBC that screwed it up.

I didn't even know it was ever on one of the three major networks anymore! I don't like to watch them when they are on so early in the season.

Did anyone watch the fall finale of Once Upon a Time? That was by far my favorite episode of the (half)season. Had all the elements which I like regarding the characters and story. The only thing I could have done without was
the heartbreak
but that aside, I want more of that in S5B!
And I certainly don't mind that Zelena is gone again!

Figures, something finally really happened on Quantico and I FELL ASLEEP! What happened after Simon said he planned the bombing?????? This was even before 11:00, and I know it ran till 20 after or something. I sort of woke up when whatever her name is that kind of looks like the main character (long dark hair, not the twins) was called up to the front of the room because of her secret. So what was it? I meant to hit record, but I just couldn't wake up enough. I woke up when the news was on and went to bed. I'll try to remember to watch it On Demand before the winter finale.

Finally caught up on Madam Secretary and while I am enjoying the Russia storyline, a bit annoyed that

the obvious turned out to be true. When the Ukrainian plane crashed, I thought it came off as fake but figured it was either bad writing or I don't know enough about plane crashes. Then when the hacker was killed with pollonium (sp?) my first thought was obviously someone is trying to set up Russia but then they found the bank transfers and I figured once again I was wrong.

But turns out I was right :)

That being said I would love this show if they'd get rid of that annoying speechwriter. I actually cringe whenever he's onscreen.

I'm about ready to give up on Once Upon a Time. This is my least favorite season by far. Too many plot twists too frequently. How many times are they going to change who the dark one is?

Agreed. The season was definitely having way too many cooks and stories. But I'm really hoping that the second half will be better in that regard.
Although, judging from photos I've seen we'll have characters in Storybrooke, we'll have Hook in the Underworld and we'll have flashbacks, so there are three worlds again plus two/three new characters... :slinkaway

I had the same thought about Russia
being set up when the hacker was killed. I even wondered if the Sterling guy had something to do with it given how war-happy he is but that would be/would have been kind of lame since they already had a traitor in their midst last season. But the set-up was just too obvious. Wouldn't it have been a nice twist though if it had turned out to be Russia after all?

In brief:
Simon planned the bombing, but did so as an exercise. It had a deliberate flaw in it. Whoever the real bomber is stole the plans and then fixed the flaw. He then leaves the team.

Natalie's "secret" was kind of an eye-roller: yes the scar is fake, but her emotional scars (from and abusive relationship) are real and so she wears the fake scar as a manifestation of that because that's what people understand. Or some bull like that.

There was also a bit where Caleb proves to Shelby that her "sister" is a fake: he skypes fake sister, tells her he knows she's scamming and asks to be cut in, she agrees, all while Shelby is offscreen and crying, devastated.

Oh, and at the end, in present time, Alex goes to Simon's house to beg him to continue to help her. He refuses. After she leaves, some hooded figure comes out of the dark and drugs him and hauls him off. (I don't think we recognize the guy but it was hard to see so I'm not sure.)

I could be wrong but I thought it was Elias Harper that snatched Simon.

I am absolutely loving Fargo this year. Last year was great with Billy Bob Thorton and Martin Freeman, but the story is even better this year.

Despite the :yikes: violence, Fargo had me  tonight. A UFO? WTF? Is this connected to whatever Betsy found in Hank's house a few weeks ago?

But, poor Molly. :(

Just popping in to say that River on Netflix is incredible. I think it just arrived last month. The wonderful Nicola Walker from Last Tango in Halifax and Stellan Skarsgard from Breaking the Waves, The Avengers, etc. star. It's a 6-episode police procedural with ghosts, set in London, and it packs a wallop.

Just finished watching it tonight. Great show! Love Nicola Walker and enjoyed my first viewing of Skarsgard. A really interesting hybrid of dry Scandinavian and earthy British. If you're put off by the idea of "ghosts," give it a chance; these aren't quite "ghosts."

Any ideas on where a Canadian can get hold of the first few eps of Empire season 2?
