I don’t remember H/B’s tango! What year was it?Tango was tough, but we did get some really good dance that season - PapCiz, SinKats, Hawayek/Baker, Smart/Diaz, etc
Maybe having at least some pattern steps helped, you know![]()

delobel & schoenfelder's tango romantica cdWill no one speak up for Tangos?Grishuk/Platov’s tango OD, the Duchesnays’ tango OSP and PapCis’s tango RD all rocked!
Sometimes you wonder if these people are actually SOBER.Can we take a moment to discuss the Nebelhorn referee and the TERRIBLE officiating here? Louise Bordet took an awful fall on their rotational lift and her head bounced off the ice. She then rolled around on the ice, writhing for several seconds before trying to sit up, looked like she was going to throw up and was quite woozy before she finally was able to stand and they resumed their program. The fall & recovery took a good 15-20 seconds out of the program and there is ZERO excuse for the referee not calling the program & requiring her to go through a concussion protocol. I'm appalled that the referee did nothing to intervene & prevent Louise from further injury.
Me. I love a good Tango (and even some mediocre onesWill no one speak up for Tangos?Grishuk/Platov’s tango OD, the Duchesnays’ tango OSP and PapCis’s tango RD all rocked!
This is the worst RD season I can remember except maybe for the tango year.
The Wango is best forgotten and never spoken of again.Me. I love a good Tango (and even some mediocre ones).
Mark Hanretty referenced liking Tango Romantica during one of his recent commentaries, so the dislike is not universal.
I did not, however enjoy the year of the Wango (Waltz/Tango rhythm).
Loser by Beck!?Maybe Allstar, by Smashmouth? Released 1999
“shape of the L on the forehead.”
That’s all I got….
ETA: Allstar not rockstar.
Unless you are Virtue and Moir, circa 2011 WC SD, then you can do no wrong. These guys made brilliant SDs or RDs.The Wango is best forgotten and never spoken of again.
Yeah, I was going to say, two of my favorite SDs that season were wangos, V/M's included, and tbh always felt like there were more complaints about the possibility of a wango than there were actual realized wangos. Therefore I have no objection to the concept personally. On the other hand, come 2018-19 I did have to accept that Halina Gordon-Poltorak may have had a small point in her reluctance once to assign a tango SD on the basis of same-iness.Unless you are Virtue and Moir, circa 2011 WC SD, then you can do no wrong. He's such a hack. I'm all for making the sport more accessible, but we're at the point where we should essentially rename the rhythm dance the "decade dance party".Agreed. Shawn Rettstat needs to be [redacted]
Per my usual tradition, I don't watch dance until the Grand Prix, but I did peak at Orihara/Pirinen's free dance and was moderately horrified. That routine desperately needs retooling -- the music cuts do not build to anything. And the less said about the flopping character step sequence, the better. It's so unfortunate because they're giving the choreography 120%, like usual.
