2024/25 OES News

Whoa! Jakucs/Galli's clearance certificate from the ISU to represent the Netherlands has been withdrawn because they do not spend enough time in the Netherlands.

So Netherlands is going all in on VerVan? It’s not as if JakGal is a clear choice with a 28th at Euros that would have translated to 37th at worlds assuming similar scoring.

I wonder whether certain French Ice Dancing couples are paying attention to this.
I guess here the problem is neither of them is a citizen of the Netherlands and so the requirement for the residency must be followed by at least one of them. If one partner of the couple is a citizen of the country they represent, the residency requirement is not needed.

Swiss team for 2025/26 season

Elite
Lukas Britschgi (category Mastery)
Livia Kaiser (category Elite 2)
Kimmy Repond (category Elite 2)
Naoki Rossi (category Elite 1)
Oaxana Vouillamoz/Tom Bouvart (category Elite 1)
Gina Zehnder/Beda Leon Sieber (category Elite 1)

Olympyc selection criteria set by Swiss Olympic Committee were published some months ago:

They are asking some minimum total scores to be achieved. Competitions to achieve them: Europeans 2025, Worlds 2025, OWG Test Event, Beijing Olympic Qualifying Competition, Senior GPs 2025/26, Challenger Series events 2025/26, Europeans 2026, Swiss Nationals 2026

The scores are 210 for Men and 185 for Women.
So Britschgi (>210 both at Euros and Worlds 2025) and Repond (>185 at Euros 2025) have already achieved them.
185 is doable for a healthy Kaiser too.

Not that I think that Vouillamoz/Bouvart are going to earn one of the few spots in Beijing or that they'd move up the list enough to earn any spot that would be thrown back into the pool -- even if he does have or gets Swiss citizenship -- but while they only earned 155.X points in Boston, their PB is just over 170, the Pairs score, earned at a 2024-5 CS, Warsaw Cup.

Looks like there's a new short documentary about Nina Pinzarrone.

Shira Ichilov & Mikhail Nosovitskiy have announced their partnership.

Here's an article about Smart/Dieck and their experience at Worlds:

"The goal was top 10. A small medal in the free dance? No, we didn't expect that."

Swiss JGP Selection document - https://www.swissiceskating.ch/1_kunstlauf/4_leistungssport/3_dokumente/2025-26-jgp-assignments.pdf

Leandra Tzimpoukakis is guaranteed 2 & Anastasia Brandenburg is guaranteed 1 based upon their placements at Jr Worlds; the remaining 3 women's spots will be determined at the Swiss Test Skate.

Other women competing in the test skate include:
Olivia Bacsa, Sayra Bessire, Elisabeth Dibbern, Valeriya Ezhova, Anthea Gradinaru, Noelie Haymoz, Chiara Scholl, & Eugenia Sekulovski

Tzimpoukakis has been assigned to JGP #2 Ankara & JGP #6 Gdansk; Brandenburg has been assigned to JGP #3 Varese.

The men have 5 spots, none of which have been pre-assigned. The following men are competing for these assignments: Aurelian Chervet, Sandro De Angelo, Naoki Rossi (hopefully he's injury-free now), Gion Schmid, Ean Weiler & Tammaro Wyss.

Switzerland earned 12 pairs spots & have "returned" 9 of them to the ISU (there's nothing in the JGP Announcement that re-distributes the unused pairs spots, but it would be great if they did since both China & the USA could use them - I'll take that discussion over to the JGP thread).
Pazienza/Knorr have been assigned to JGP #1 Riga, with the possibility of securing a 2nd assignment (at JGP #6 Gdansk) at the Test Skate. The new team of Nora Marleen Rothenbuhler/Manuel Rossi must participate in the Test Skate & receive her ISU Clearance (she last represented Hungary with Berei at JGP Ostrava last September) in order to be assigned to JGP #6 Gdansk.
There are 6 spots available in ice dancing, none of which have been assigned. The Test Skate pool includes the teams of Levy/Llorente, Tscharner/Wiederkehr, and Woodtli/Suhner, so presumably they will each get 2 JGPs.

The document does list placeholders (in parentheses) for the unassigned spots.

Test Skate will be August 8-10 in Dubendorf.

I know Oberstdorf is doing some renovations on the rink this summer, maybe not both rinks (main rink and training rink) are available yet. I hope it’s not generally overcrowded there :scream:

New junior ice dance team representing Azerbaijan - Anna Sophia O'Brien & Drake Tong.

New junior ice dance team representing Azerbaijan - Anna Sophia O'Brien & Drake Tong.

O'Brien and Tong sound totally Azeri names to me:)

New pairs team representing Ukraine - Hannah Herrera/Ivan Khobta!

They will compete on the JGP - Bangkok & Gdansk - as well as on the Challenger circuit.

Cross-posting from the JGP thread -
Belgium had assigned Lilou Remeysen to 2 JGPs - Ankara & Baku. Belgium only has 2 JGP spots for women, so this is a clear indication the Belgian fed feels she is the strongest junior woman they have despite this being her debut junior season.
