How do you know she's rich? SS really seems like a hungry figure skater always wanting to improve and do more she's not spoiled by any means. I can't wait to see how good and dangerous she becomes.
Shes a humble girl thats for sure shes doent post extravagant pics, but just watch her tik tok and IG stories

the chaperone sneak peak, she might get in trouble showing a bit more this time.

Where is there going to be a bubble Europeans or Beijing?

You make an interesting point because the ********* is changing everything. Why risk this team? But the Olympics aren't for almost two months right so the skaters would get very Rusty without Europeans.
Maybe. But think about all of that work they’ve put in only to be ruled out by a positive test from a particularly contagious variant.

We have athletes and 3 active team sports here in North America now getting coronavirus all the time and they're fully vaccinated that young and strong with the strongest lungs you can humanly have. I am concerned about all figure skating Federation sending their skaters and not having enough alternates hopefully Beijing won't be bad with omnicron during the Olympics.

We don't know who's been vaccinated from what country or if they're going to have to quarantine when they go to the Winter Olympics that will screw up their training regimen for an Olympics.

This virus is turning from a pandemic into an endemic meaning it's going to be here forever like the flu. We can't Panic if some incredible young athlete gets Coronavirus. It's the unbeatable opponent let's be honest about that. Even more unbeatable than KV. ;)

By the way Liza needs to stay ready as if she's going to be on the Olympic team. Anna has had toe and neck injuries and sasha has had a broken freaking foot this season. And then you have the airborne illness that is hitting athletes all over the world. Liza needs to stay ready as if she she will be on the Olympic team. Realistically she probably has about a 25% chance of skating in the Olympics. Especially if Anna is struggling physically and does not skate well at euros.

Personally I feel like if a skater goes out and does something extraordinary like five quads I am okay with them getting High performance marks. I would also be cool with them fixing the marks so that it’s understood someone with high level jump content isn’t going to have the same kind of transitions.

To me that is an extraordinary thing and it does translate to performance.

However I also want penalties for large amount of errors.

However I would like to see hard combos rewarded more.

This being said when a skater like Kamilla comes along who does beautiful skating transitions and high level content there should be a marked difference between her and the Trusovas
I disagree. That’s why the technical content has its own point system.

That was Tutberidize's dog which was a gift from Trusova. It travels to all events with her now. And, comes to the rink every day (actually all of them bring their dogs periodically). Trusova has a Chi, a Poodle, and a Husky.
The Husky is technically her brother’s. She has two poodles, a chi, and a bassenji (sp?).

Alexei Mishin:
Liza, you are the joy and the pain of my heart. I am so proud of you! I will go with you until the end. I am sure that you have not yet said your last word.

In 2018 Nathan had no subtle moments choreographically. He has come a long way since, but he was given high pcs that he didn't deserve in 2018, 2019. Trusova has a lot more choreography in her program, in addition to the 5 quads.

I don't know if you are anti-woman or not, but in general the tendency is to discourage women from doing the jumps men are doing. It is changing now but women are still expected to be 'pretty'.
Anti woman....please tell me that was a joke and not a serious comment.

Alexei Mishin:

That’s so lovely. Everyone needs a Mishin in their corner 🙂

Alexei Mishin:

Not me chopping onions at 0130 in the morning :wuzrobbed

Can we please just give Russia 4 spots already? :soapbox:

Alexei Mishin:

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why Mishin is the best coach in the world. Along with Moskvina. They have such great hearts and love for their students and they still rock the ice.

Can we please give those two immortality?

Who is Alena Volkova? She wrote this piece "In such a state, Shcherbakova cannot be allowed to the Olympics. It is necessary to arrange an additional selection with Tuktamysheva" (Dec. 26):

I'd have them in a bubble in Russia....rink, living quarters, coaches, chef and others who remain with them and do not emerge until they leave for China. Facetime with family and friends....I know it sucks but what would suck more than getting the variant and missing the Games? It seems nuts that something that may not even show symptoms can remove them from the ice at the Olympics but this is where we are today.

Actually, I would also not send the best skaters to Europeans. At least not the medal contenders at Olympics. To miss Olympics only because someone needs to isolate after being in contact with someone with covid, that would suck!

Anna has one weak performance and people start calling for her withdrawal from the Olympics. She gave her best performance last year while recovering from an illness. Why not wait until the Europeans to see if she is improving or regressing? She is still the reigning World champion and a three time Russian National champion.

Like many others I too wish Russia had a fourth spot, for Tuk. Unfortunately we don't make the rules.

I've said it before. I really think the ISU should look at alpine skiing. The comparison with figure skating is relevant as it also has like 4-5 nations dominating. The rules for alpine skiing at championships is max 4 per country + the ruling champion if he/she still competes. I wish figure skating was the same...

It's a pity that Liza does not get a last shot at Euros - I feel it is too highly unlikely that Russia doesn't sweep the podium at Euros, in which case there will be no swap anyways.

For me, I would have Kamila skip Euros since she is so far ahead that she doesn't need the extra momentum / travel anwyays; or have Sasha skip it to rest and ensure she is fully healed; I would definitely have Liza and Anna in a skate off at Euros. Anna's quad success rate is way lower than Liza's 3axel success rate. But @tony is right - if the national panel is deliberately ensuring Anna wins by a sizable margin over Liza, obviously there will be no skate off since the mission is now accomplished.

Samodelkina has all the amo needed💪🏻 Can’t wait to follow her going forwards!

She's my "discovery" of these Nationals. It's odd because I've seen her before, but only this time did I really sit up and take notice.
I'm already pissed off with her (and Muravieva) likely finishing behind Eteri skaters because reasons.
I'm also proud to count myself among those who dig the crazy Butyrskaya Carmen arrangement :D

In my opinion the skate-off between Scherbakova and Tuktamysheva has already happened = at the Russian Nationals. That was the chance Tuktamysheva had, why should she be given any extra skate-offs, LOL? It seems to me she has self-destructed her chances at 3 Russian Nationals regarding the Olympics and Europeans before that.

They did not finish brhind Tutberidze's JUNIOR skater who is their competition..Maybe people should wait until junior nationals to start wuzrobbing.

I like Petrosian. She is my favorite of the current Russian juniors.

I liked her on the JGP and was quite thrilled to see her do so well at Nationals.

(I fully expect her to disappear in a year, but hey, I will enjoy her super fast spins now:). Mom quite liked her too).

Interesting points and I wholeheartedly agree.
But will the Russian figure skating Federation build a bubble for the team the coaches and the cooks and the doctors? I don't expect them to do the right thing.

That was a pretty big crowd in St Petersburg and a lot of the fans coaches and skaters were not wearing masks after they skated. After the Moscow GDP in 2020 they had a big uptick in coronavirus let's hope the same thing does not happen now think it's that would ruin the Olympics for some people.

I also wonder if the skaters have been vaccinated I can prove it. Some of them may be too young ( Kamila) for their parents to even want the kids to get vaccinated not knowing any potential long-term ramifications of the Jab or jabs.

Petro ain't going anywhere. She has improved a lot in the last year and now has Ultra jumps. The only thing that could hurt her if she grew like 8 to 12 in in a year.

What did your mom think of the. Sofias?

I love Tuk but Anna was worthy of the benefit of the doubt. She’s a champion and proved herself time and time again. I’m sure Tuk will get herself to the games in some commercial fashion, as a commentator or representative. It might not be what she wished for but she had a wonderful moment at Russian Nationals with that amazing portrait and crowd reception. Her season may not even be over yet because we don’t know if everyone will skate at Worlds yet. She may even stay in it for a few more seasons since she will receive Grand Prix event assignments. She’s mature enough to see silver linings, as is her coach. He already hinted that this is not the last for her and she herself said in an interview that her goal is to land a quad in a long program but it would not happen this season. So maybe those are prophetic words and she clearly has another goal in mind besides winning.

I liked her too, but she is still really tiny so we will see what happens.

I had never seen Petro or the two junior Sofias. I skipped the entire JFP this season, though I did look up the results for some. I really liked Petrosian and the two Sofias, particularly Samodelkina. I am not going to make any predictions for the 14 year olds. They could survive the growth spurt and become stronger.
