So is Knighton. No, he didn't beat Lyles but first high schooler to make the US men's track and field team since 1972. That's amazing!Athing Mu is really good, y’all.

How is what direction you are facing while on the podium going to hurt actual human lives?![]()
Gwen Berry turns away from flag on US Olympic trials podium, says she was 'set up' | CNN
Hammer thrower Gwen Berry says that the playing of the national anthem while she was on the podium at the US Olympic track and field trials was "set up."edition.cnn.com
Being more concerned about a piece of cloth and a song than actual human lives is not a good look.
Not talking about the athlete, but the people who are criticising her. Sorry if that wasn’t clear. How is what direction you are facing while on the podium going to hurt actual human lives?
Oh okay. Not talking about the athlete, but the people who are criticising her. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.
It’s still Nationals though. Not like any other countries are competing.Though Olympic Trials, where athletes are competing to represent their country, is probably the aptest sporting event for an anthem so I can't complain too much about them doing it here.
True. It’s still Nationals though. Not like any other countries are competing.![]()
They don't do it for the medal ceremonies at those trials. Apparently they play the anthem once a day, and it just happened to "coincide" with this particular medal ceremony. It does seem odd it happened for this one and no others.True.
And it makes no sense to do it for a podium ceremony in this situation as every podium member is from the US.

I don't know if it's changes in technology, technique, or a year of restricted competition due to the pandemic, but it seems like the stage is set for an amazing track & field meet at the Tokyo Olympics.Yep - I knew it was going to be gone soon. And I think both the men’s and women’s 400m hurdles WRs are going to drop again this season. Maybe in Tokyo.
Some developing news about Sha'Carri:

American sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson fails drug test, could miss Olympics
American sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson looks set to miss the Olympic Games after her US Olympic Trials performance was disqualified because she tested positive for cannabis. News of the infringement arrives four weeks before the start of the athletics competition at the July 23 to August 8...jamaica-gleaner.com
The article has been edited - it no longer includes the name of the drug.Weed isn't a performance-enhancing drug and is legal in many places. I don't get why it's on the WADA list.

But WADA does consider marijuana to be a drug of abuse. Because they are lame. The article has been edited - it no longer includes the name of the drug.
It certainly is legal here in Oregon where the Trials were held.Weed isn't a performance-enhancing drug and is legal in many places. I don't get why it's on the WADA list.

Heck, 99% of frequent users in my area know that it can take up to 3 weeks to be able to produce a clear sample. For a pro athlete not to know is beyond my comprehension. This is why it’s banned: https://www.usada.org/athletes/substances/marijuana-faq/
Its also only banned for in competition testing - shouldn’t be for an athlete to manage their use to comply with that.
