Skate America Fan Cutouts available for purchase

I am finding the cutouts a mixed bag. If they do this for other events, I hope they learn from SkAm and print them on regular-colored cardboard (i.e., beige) because right now when I look up from my computer to the screen, I see WHITE OUTLINES before I see anything else. My eye goes right to that.

The cutouts do work sometimes when they are kind of a blur like when a skater is moving and the cutouts shown are ahead of them (so farther away).

I am hoping (and assuming), I will get used to them. I do think the ones that they use for MLB are not quite so BRIGHT in general (printed with subdued colors) and that works better. (Or maybe the MLB ones are just fading over time in the sun)

Perhaps USFSA didn't find a cutout of Todd Eldredge's head superimposed on the body of Ted Prior's 1984 Playgirl centerfold as tasteful as you (or I) do.

I did look up Mr. Prior and I admit the lack of body hair is disqualifying. Also,I strongly suspect Mr. Eldredge's body does not require ANY superimposing.

After so much gloomy news this year, it's fun to see the cutouts and I liked the stories about the pets. A little silly fun is a good thing, and the money raised is going to a good cause.

In addition to the aforementioned “flag family,” I wish that USFS would have reserved/prepared a few of these for other “old familiar faces” such as Dick Button, Peggy Fleming, etc. They could even have a “sponsor a familiar face” fund raiser...such as, fans could pay $xx amount to sponsor Dick Button’s cut out. I notice that a far-right front row is empty...reserve it for skating royalty cut-outs? Just an idea. Too late for this but maybe do it for Nationals?

I watch an episode of “hoarders” this week and it freaked me out, I think I could be heading along that path if I don’t be careful so I’m not going to purchase a cut out. Old ANL would do that, today ANL needs to moderate

Because you know after the competition ended I’d be requesting to have all of them sent to my house

For some reason, watching the ladies' short program and seeing all of those cut outs 'cheering and applauding' behind the boards reminds me of this classic scene from Steve Martin's movie, The Lonely Guy.

I find the cardboard cutouts scary and distracting!
I prefer the Russian solution of fan banners which are not so distracting as they are a normal part of skating anyway.

At first I thought the MLB was crazy for piping in sound effects, however it was disconcerting watching skating with cutouts and no sound effects during jumps.
