I didn't see this posted anywhere but got an email this morning. Seems like a great event to attend if you want to meet all the Olympians + Adam Rippon. I hope they add a streaming option for a fee to the support development fund.

Mr. Mtnskater and I attended “Toast to Milan” last night in Colorado Springs at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs ENT Center for the Arts. What a beautiful theater complex with huge windows and stunning views of snow capped Pike’s Peak. Numerous large posters of the Olympic figure skating team members in various poses with “Toast to Milan” headings were placed across the lobby. USFS had a table selling $40 tote bags with the U.S. figure skating team members images. I think they were selling pictures of the team and maybe other items. Looked pretty sold out when we walked by. The event was well attended with a nearly full house. Many skating alumni in the audience. Mirai Nagasu sat right in front of us. (We were about 5th row center stage). Also sighted…Alexa and Chris Kneirim, Agnes Zawadski, Paul Wylie, David Santee, Scott Moir, Massimo Scali and Philip DeGugliamo among many others.

Adam Rippon was a very funny and engaging host. Did a great job. He’s always talking on his podcast about how out of shape he is….but he looks fantastic to me. He came out before the event officially started to tell the audience they were filming the show for broadcast on Peacock and there might be some retakes needed, but none ever happened. Then the entire U.S. Olympic figure skating team was announced and came out into the audience to huge rousing applause. Some were very dressed up and some not so much. Jason Brown was also announced to stay in the audience and field audience questions from a group of kids.

Each skating discipline was then brought onto the stage together starting with the pairs. Funny video montages introduced the skaters as individuals. Then Adam interviewed them about Milan. Ellie Kam dropped the F-bomb about how they had to deliver in the team event, which Adam proceeded to repeat 😜 Kids cover your ears! Spencer said HE intended to continue competing but said nothing about with Emily…so maybe the rumors are true!?? Next came the ice dancers. The intro videos had the audience in stitches about Vadym’s obsession with Costco. Adam asked Vadym if he was wearing any Costco and he said his pants were Kirkland 😂. Anthony was asked about his famous skating royalty parents and he said it did put pressure on him earlier in his career but that he has learned to become his own person.

Next came the men. Max looked fabulous and really in shape in his suit. Wish he had been in Stars On Ice!! Every time I see him I feel like crying thinking about his parents. He was very heartfelt about what Milan and especially his short program performance there meant to him. He received a very big round of applause from the audience…we all loved it too. Torgy talked about pizza of course. And Ilia was asked about meeting Snoop Dog in Milan, to which Ilia said he hopes everyone could meet Snoop Dog. Ilia was dressed very casually, a bit surprising because he is usually a fashionista.

The final group was, of course, the Blade Angels. Isabeau was very casually dressed with wide leg jeans and strapless long peplum top. Amber had a black midriff outfit and pants with a blazer. Alysa was pretty stunning in an all black outfit with very wide leg culotte skirt and short black jacket/ combat boots. She looked like a designer ninja warrior. Isabeau came out first and took Alysa’s seat and they pretended to have a spat with her to get her to move so Alysa could sit next to Adam. They talked about their friendship, how much fun they had in Milan. That Adam was the grandfather to Isabeau’s adopted plant. Alysa said she is all about the journey, the friends she is making and the experiences and not the medals. The Broadmoor skaters all cheered the loudest for Amber.

The event ended with the entire Olympic team being brought back on stage to huge audience applause 👏 I’m so happy we got to attend in person and very happy those who have Peacock will be able to watch the fun too! We are staying a couple of nights in the Springs to play tourist. I had hoped to skate at the World Arena while here but when I looked at the schedule most of the time is taken up for a USFS figure skating camp. Interesting!!! If anybody knows what is going on with the camp please post. We might pop by the arena today or tomorrow to see if we can at least watch some of it since I can’t skate 😭

Glad you had fun! I'll look forward to watching on Peacock.

The figure skating camp is likely part of the large event USFS is having this week....basically, they combined Gov Council with the (former) PSA conference for coaches and added an on-ice camp for skaters, but i believe it's for average grassroots competing skaters, not elites. There are probably some on-ice workshops for coaches, too.

Per this press release, Toast to Milan will be streamed on Peacock on May 30th.

The 90-minute show, taped for NBC's Peacock network and slated to air May 30, featured emcee and 2018 Olympian Adam Rippon.

I hope this won’t be taken down quickly since there shouldn’t be any music issues. I’m out of town for SOI until Sunday and won’t be able to watch.

On May 31 at 2 pm ET, the whole thing apparently will become available on USFS YouTube channel:

My opinion probably will be unpopular, but I thought Adam did not need to be so OTT snarky when discussing the "lore" of the quadg0d nickname. Ilia was a good sport to play along. Before switching from lutzboi to quadg0d, fifteen-year-old Ilia had just done four quads -- two 4S and two 4T -- at 2020 Skate America; two weeks later, Ilia posted video of his quad lutz on Instagram. Yes, Ilia was a ballsy teenager; and yes, his brain is unique; but there was no good reason for Adam to give a false scenario that Ilia did not even have quads at the time.
(And yes, I know that Adam's snarkiness in general is supposed to be part of his "charm," but it often turns me off.)

I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but I have seen the clip of Adam talking to Ilia about the origin of his user name. Let's face it, it's quite a non-humble user name to start with. I think Ilia can safely be teased about it, and he didn't seem to mind at all.

Yeah, this is not the first time he's been confronted.

Confronted?? That's a strange choice of wording.

Anyway: I already was cringing at Adam's lame shtick that it would be a revelation that lutzboi gave himself the quadg0d nickname. I suspect that it was old news for the most of the Toast to Milan audience.
In my experience, Adam is the first to give the false impression that Ilia did not have quads before changing his Instagram to quadg0d. As I alluded to above, I feel that's where Adam crossed the line from friendly teasing into unfair hyperbole. Young teen Ilia was not merely dreaming of quads; he already had his first quads in competition under his belt. For me, trying to raise doubt on that point was not justifiable just to add drama to Adam's not-groundbreaking "lore".

Speaking of non-humble, it is an apt description of Adam, who all too often (outside of Toast to Milan) seems overly (IMO) impressed with himself as the best entertainer/personality/everything on the planet. I do think Adam has other admirable qualities, but humility is not one of them.

Ok. You just said "unfair hyperbole." Not sure why my phrasing is strange in comparison.

Adam is not everyone's cup of tea. I like someone who is snarky and doesn't treat everyone with kid gloves. Ilia is a three-time World Champion and has an Olympic gold medal. He is no longer "young teen Ilia." No reputations were harmed.

My last comments about Adam and quadg0d:

Ilia has been asked countless times about his quadg0d nickname -- without being "confronted," IMO.
For me, "confronted" has a negative nuance of aggression. Many interviewers have queried Ilia appropriately about his nickname, but I don't remember thinking that any were "confronting" him.
I don't think Adam was confronting Ilia either, although I did not like Adam's approach to discussing quadg0d.

As for reputational harm: I stand by my comments above. To this day, some people out there unfortunately never have given Ilia credit for maturing over the years, both as a person and as a skater. I don't like the idea that Adam's remarks could lead someone with a misguided mindset of that kind to think, "Wait, what, it's from bad to worse? Did he not even have a quad at the time?!? He's an even bigger ******* than I thought!"

On a small and completely different note:

I wish the kid from Colorado Springs could have received a more satisfying answer about skaters from there. Too bad that none of the dancers on stage fit the bill, but I think it was a missed opportunity for our host to chime in that Amber (coming up in the women's group), and Danny and Ellie (in the preceding pairs group) do train in Colorado Springs.

No matter what, I am thankful that USFS put Toast to Milan on YouTube.
Congratulations to the 2026 Olympians! Probably will be a very long time before all sixteen of them would have occasion to be together again.

The word confronting has many meaning including presenting directly. That’s the meaning I intended, while you understood a more hostile meaning. Either are appropriate usage, so it’s understandable why I wasn’t sure of your concern. Now I do.

And I’m amused about your concern that random fan might be misguided by a playful encounter and think Ilia is a jerk now all these years later when he is the only man to skate a program with all the quads. Seems like hyperbole to me.

I thought Adam was a bit OTT in general, even in comparison to typical Adam.

However, I really don't think Adam was that hard on Ilia. As I recall, he didn't even ask Ilia any quesitons about the problems Ilia had in Milan. I didn't think the QuadGod question seemed confrontational.

Too bad that none of the dancers on stage fit the bill, but I think it was a missed opportunity for our host to chime in that Amber (coming up in the women's group), and Danny and Ellie (in the preceding pairs group) do train in Colorado Springs.
Amber herself mentioned it. I wish that Jason had used that question with a more relevant group. Adam tends to digress a lot, so I'm kind of glad that he did not start talking about skaters who were not on stage.

In general, I didn't learn much but I think USFS is just trying to retain the increased in interest in skating. (The faux fighting between Alysa and Isabeau is an ongoing bit in response to USFS's request last year that the skaters try to drum up more interest in figure skating - like there was in the Tonya-Nancy era.)

While I see your point, Adam is usually quite self deprecating about his own skating, and seems to be under no illusions about where he stood in comparison to his peers during his skating career. So perhaps not humble but not always blowing his own trumpet either.
