Date Change: 2026 Skate America in Everett, WA; Salt Lake City for 2027 U.S. Nationals - info/planning thread

Did anyone buy Skate America tickets today in the FoFs presale?

I'm signed up for the USFS newsletter which they said would have a code for tomorrow's fan presale but haven't received a code yet - has anyone else received it?

Does anyone have any information on the Skate America arena set up - i.e., where the KnC and Judges stands are, any limited view seats to be aware of, etc?

I'm disappointed but not surprised about the lack of info about this event from USFS given FoF sales were supposed to begin today and newsletter subscriber sales are supposed to begin tomorrow.

I got my tickets in the FOFS presale. I got an email yesterday with the seating chart information so you should get one today for the presale tomorrow. The judges are behind 117-119 and Kiss and Cry is the 113 side. I snagged Sec 117 row 10 for $200 so not bad. Sec. 118 was blocked out.

I got an email from USFS with a code and a link to buy tickets. We were in section 118 row 9 (I can't remember but I think they were good seats) but from the previous post it looks like that section will be blocked this time. Everything else looks to be the same.
I also got an email from Angel of the Wind arena and it has a different code

I got a letter too. I noticed that nowhere in it does it say the date of the event. LOL (I was trying to see if I have a commitment that weekend and I couldn't remember the date.)

I got the email with the code too. And it's super weird that it doesn't mention the date of Skate America - especially since the date changed!

I got tickets! That was the easiest I can remember it being, it opened at the correct time and accepted the code.

I had originally thought of doing the combined Skate America + Skate Canada but with the date change, I'll only be doing Skate America. It feels like it's a very long time from now but I'm excited for it!

Hoping the hockey glass is taken down for the event. Bought tickets in section 119.

It was taken down when they hosted it in 2018. I can't imagine they wouldn't do that again.

Got my ticket! Now to figure out flights.

Because they take place in arenas with no ice surface until one is built. :)
When that’s true it’s coincidental. Nationals and SKAM are frequently hosted in arenas with hockey teams and the glass is always taken down because they need clear sight lines for TV. It’s in the USFS contract.

It’s the same with arenas that have both basketball and hockey teams. The glass is down for basketball but up for hockey.

Just ordered my 'get in the door' (lol - the $300 all-event ticket) for Nationals. Section 104, possibly with sideways view of kiss and cry and on the same side of the rink as the judges. 3 rows back from $600 seats. ;-). Pretty smooth process. Now I will wait to see if they switch the dates on me.

Weekend ticket packages for 2027 Nationals go on sale to the public May 14. Here was the information in the FOFS presale email. Looks like the P2 and P3 levels are only $50 cheaper than the All Event tickets.

The weekend ticket package includes access to all championship-level competition sessions Friday, Jan. 8 through Sunday, Jan. 10, including entry to the men’s short program and the free skates/free dance in all four championship-level disciplines.

Pricing for the weekend ticket package is as follows (including taxes and fees):
P1A (green): $1,300
P1B (blue): $875
P2 (orange): $550
P3 (purple): $250

Another date change! Just got an email that the 2027 Development Championships have been changed to Jan 10-14 at the SLC Sports Center. They were formerly Jan 2-5. It appears the junior events have also been moved according to the official website. What a clown show.

I’m feeling what the parents with kids in regular school and with less flexible jobs must be feeling. Clown show indeed.

Moving juniors to a different week is terrible. Not only will it mean staying an extra week to see them, it'll mean less exposure to the young skaters. They should at least reduce the price of the ticket packages if that's the case.

The juvenile-junior tickets aren’t included in the ticket packages they’ve been selling, so they’re lucky in that respect that they don’t have to deal with that mess. They did offer a 25% discount in the fan shop for the confusion 🙄🙄

I’m sad that we won’t be able to see the Juniors - what a cluster****!

The juniors were never going to be at the Maverik Center and there was very little overlap between the 2027 Development Team Championships (juvenile-intermediate-novice), the junior events and the senior/championship events.

Here's the original press release - the very first post in this thread:

The 2027 U.S. Figure Skating Championships return to Utah for the first time since 1999 with championship events taking place January 5-10, 2027

...snip...

Championship-level practices and competition will take place at the Maverik Center, the site of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games and the upcoming 2034 Olympic Winter Games.

All-session tickets for championship-level competition will go on sale Thursday, March 26 at 12 p.m. ET.

Junior competition will occur at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex
, which was the official figure skating practice venue for the 2002 Games.

In addition, the Salt Lake City Sports Complex will host the U.S. Figure Skating Development Team Championships, which includes competition at the juvenile, intermediate and novice levels. Preserving the legacy of the National Development Team, these events, as well as junior events, will occur Jan. 2-5, 2027.
Tickets for juvenile-junior will be available for purchase in the fall.
Basically, the USFS has shifted the Development Team & Junior events from the weekend before (which is one of the heaviest travel weekends of the year) to the week after, with an extra day added in to the Development Team Camp. If you want to see all or most of those lower level competitions, you are basically shifting your reservations and will probably be able to see most of them still. The main difference is that, if you're still working, you'll need to take extra days off of work since the entirety of the event only includes one weekend versus spanning two weekends and the work-week in between.

And that is a big difference for all of the people who do work and/or have already made hotel and flight reservations for the original dates.

I can't miss work that Monday so I arranged to fly out early Tuesday morning, plane landing a little after 10 am, with plans to see the Junior events that afternoon and evening. Yes, I knew they weren't going to be at the Maverik Center.

There's no way I can stay past Sunday night and I've already made my flight reservation anyway (and fares have gone up since then) so I won't be able to see any of the Juniors. And yeah, i'm annoyed.

I know that. I’m still sad that they have separated these to the point of making them financially problematic.

I looked at the schedule for last year's Nationals. Would it be safe to assume that 2027 Nats would follow the same general schedule of Tuesday practices, Weds-Thurs-Fri-Sat competition, and Sunday gala?

Maybe partially the same, but not entirely the same?

Championship Men SP was on Thursday Jan 8 at 2026 Nats.
But it is part of the Friday-Sunday weekend package for 2027 Nats.

Also: Has USFS ever officially stated that 2027 Nats will have a gala??
Although a gala has been customary for past Nats, the USFS press releases for 2027 Nats have not mentioned a gala, AFAIK.
And FWIW, per Ticketmaster for 2027 Nats: For all-session tickets, "8 events included" (Sessions 1 thru 8). For weekend passes, "5 events included" (Sessions 4 thru 8).
I hope that 2027 Nats will have a gala, but I wonder whether a separate ticket purchase would be necessary? I hope not.

I emailed USFS and there won’t be a gala at Nationals 🙁 Practices will be on the 5th and 6th. There will be three sessions on Thursday, two on Friday, two on Saturday, and the men’s FS on Sunday. I was not given the details of which sessions are on Thursday-Saturday but we can piece those together.

This info is very helpful, thanks

They’ll change their minds….a few months from now.
