FSU Watch Party Sunday #1: 1991 Worlds part 2 [12pm CDT/6pm CET]

You know, Hubbell/Hubbell skated to this once. One performance had her in a red dress where the crotch part of the dress had white swirls so it made it look like panties as opposed to part of the leotard with the skirt that most skating dresses look like. So every time her skirt flew up or when her brother would pick her up, it seemed like we got crotch shots.

This is epic! I haven't seen any of these dance programs before.
Yup, you're driving. We get it. But hey, why don't do that imaginative steering wheel thing once more.

Oksana Grishuk really was an incredible athlete. They were the prototype for IJS ice dance. I said it once but I’ll say it again, Dubova was the best coach for developing ice dancers. They could do things that were ahead of their time.

Too much sliding aside, that FD is a masterpiece. And I’d still rank it second here.

I’m going to say something unpopular, I think Grishuk was a better match aesthetically on the ice for Zhulin than Usova. Maya seemed too angular and long-limbed did Alex some times whereas I thought he and Pasha looked great together and complimented each other.

I preferred U/Z to the French. Maybe it's a matter of personal taste, but I felt U/Z created a special mood and just kept on flowing on during the entire program. The French was more like, here's an element, here's an element, smile to the judges.... They were good, but not that good.....

me neither....is that where Gilles Poirier got their driving moves from. I thought they were being original.

I love D and D’s program - love the hopeful message and choreography. But I can’t deny it probably should not have won - lots of two foot skating and it’s only 3 weeks old!

I liked Maya with Platov better. Their long lines complemented each other. She was too tall for Zhulin and they always had to crumple her up to disguise it.

back then they took it seriously when you repeated programs in ice dance. Now, IJS killed creative integrity like that.

I wonder if they could adjust one of the components to focus on creativity/innovation. Not like that would change much, but still...
