Cute Zoo Pics Part 7

My apologies if people think this is too political for this thread, but today was Election Day across much of the U.S., and check out Proposition 10 passing in Texas!

Apparently, this needed to be passed by voters because it was a change in how “state government property” was treated. Beforehand, retired law enforcement dogs had to be auctioned off - or worse.

Also, the ~10% who voted against this have to be the worst Texans ever.

YAY for these precious doggies - and the hoomans who serve with, love, and want to adopt them. :cheer2:

Yay indeed. I'm a Texan & everyone I know was all for it. Of course probably no one wanted to admit voting against it when the rest of us were raving.

The Egyptian Mau cat’s name is derived from the Middle Egyptian word mjw, which means cat. But contrary to its name, it’s unclear whether the modern Egyptian Mau actually originated in Egypt—even if it does share more than a passing resemblance with the spotted felines depicted on the walls of Pharaonic palaces and temples. In fact, DNA analysis suggests that the Mau might be from Europe. The breed was saved from extinction by Russian princess, Natalie Trubetskaya, who bred them from 1956 onwards after emigrating to America. It can run at up to 30mph and is therefore one of the fastest types of domestic cat. It also on the other hand has one of the longest gestation periods - remaining in the womb for 73 days, compared with 65-67 days on average for other breeds
