Whoa, folks. So Elek is the tech specialist at the GPF. Judy is the assistant tech specialist. Molina is the controller. I hope everybody's ready . . .

The tech panel, per usual, watched everything today. Judy took notes on everybody. Tiffany skated her program without her partner since apparently his skates haven't arrived--good for her, she got a nice round of applause for the effort--and Judy took notes. Hubbell & Donohue did the pattern outside the run-through, and Judy took notes. She's funny to watch because she peers down at them all over her glasses.

@Dobre What can we expect from this tech panel? How do they normally judge?

Elek normally calls tough. Especially on footwork levels.

Judy can be tough too. Unpredictable. Sometimes she gets teams on things no one else calls.

Molina, I don't know, but he has no reason to push any of these teams.

I suspect if you get the levels here, you'll have earned them.

I considered it, but I think they're both ranked too closely to the French teams internationally.

ETA: My mom's opinion: "It's not going to matter anyway. The other two tech panel members are likely to nail everybody before he gets a say."

I have heard (don't remember where though ...) that Molina has the reputation to be fair . For what it's worth ...

I love your mom's spirit, but levels don't matter anymore. GOE do. So the tech panel may be tough, GOE will tell it all.

I think the tech panel has kept the judges in line this season by calling lower levels. And the Russians always do a big push every year. I think Bukin deserves it. But not the gold yet. HD have had 6 weeks of changes to both programs and from what I hear there are some pretty cool changes they will be trying out this week. I was hoping to get better reviews of dance.

Like the big Russian push of no b/s for gpf in 2017!

I feel like this panel at GP and JGP is heavy in favor of US teams.

Would you kindly briefly summarize what she said? I can't listen to the Ice Talk podcast right now and I'd love to see what she had to say.

Tanith thinks it's both longer and harder than previous patterns have been, and that is intensified by putting both portions back to back. There's just a lot more to master with no breathing room. And because of the pace of it, once you make a mistake it is almost impossible to catch up with the timing again so you end up with a cascading series of missteps, like an avalanche. She does think most teams will improve as they have more time to focus on it.

Thank you, barbarafan! I live in the U.S so the CBC link doesn't work for me and I know the last link but many of the youtuber have disappeared and I didn't find a live stream ... :(. Thank you though! :)

Yep, and I remember how he was insulted, denigrated and theatened at last GPF. He was even “instructed” how to judge! That was hopeless as he is not the kind of person to yield to such pressure and threats.

This post olympic season feels a little strange partly because of all the new teams on the scene. This GPF just doesn't feel complete with a lot of teams who should be here not being here. More than anything, it will help intensify the battle at each teams respective Nationals. GPF is also where all the momentum shifts happen so the rest of the season should be :watch:. I bet after a year of TR :GnP1: seriousness everybody will be ready to bring the extra cheese for the Broadway RD next year.
