JGP Linz results & videos:

6 Sophia ELDER / Christopher ELDER USA 127.48 6 (49.58) 6 (77.90) [RD Video] [FD Video] (indiv. FD video not available so I've linked to the recorded stream)
7 Jocelyn HAINES / James KOSZUTA USA 123.02 7 (46.83) 7 (76.19) [RD Video] [FD Video]

I really love Haines & Koszuta's FD this season. The way the music is edited & interpreted. If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend watching.

Kudos to the Elders for the 6th place finish. They were 12th in their JGP debut event last season. Nice that they got to see the improvement for a year's hard work.

So I know there's no way the Browns earned a second JGP, but I really hope the USFSA sends them to a junior B like they did for Gropman/Somerville a few seasons back.

I've been absolutely stunned yesterday and today with how good they are. I didn't know anything about them, and I just kept repeating WOW as I watched them. Ted Barton was practically speechless with them too!

It's been a long time since I've seen such a young team with such remarkable skills - they are amazing in interpretation (so much maturity for their age), they have wonderful deep knee bend and edges and are just so impressive. If they'll keep it up they can really become the ones to watch.
But what's up with their -2 for music requirement violation? I didn't see that one coming.

Browns and interesting to watch. I noticed them long time ago when they were at lower levels and did not get high results yet. Oona is very artistic and their program has a great flow and attack. Gage has to work on his posture - it is not an ice dance posture at all.

I have a feeling they will get a second. A 5th in the RD is quite impressive- especially for a first year team. It wasn’t like they skated clean in the FD and dropped. Looking at the protocol, they had strong elements throughout and unfortunately had one very costly mistake. USFS should’ve caught the potential music deduction before they were sent out, so I don’t think that should be held against them. Haven’t watched the video, but if they have as much potential as it seems, my guess is that they will be sent out again.

They got a 2 point deduction in Chesapeake open and dropped a lot in standing there also.

Mad props to @platniumangel, who pointed out the Browns' potential music problem after Lake Placid.

I was thinking more about fredance needing a change of tempo and expression... which I thought would be impossible with one song/piece of music.. yet several teams used one song: Amoia/Becker FD (Lay me down by Sam Smith) The Browns FD (Parisienne Walkways by Gary Moore) and a few others. Though I love both pieces of music...... it doesn’t seem there’s a change of expression and rhythm.

I like the Browns a lot: such good edging, musical awareness, unison, etc. I love that they scrapped and fought their way into the ISP and to a JGP assignment. I adored their sensational programs in Lithuania. I would not give them a second JGP assignment because they didn't earn it by their JGP final score or placement. They don't have the highest placement nor score of a team waiting for a second and there's so many other deserving American teams. I wouldn't want Efimova/Petrov or Wolfkostin/Zhao's provisional assignments to be pulled. The final JGP event will likely have Green/Green and one available spot: maybe for Gunter/Wein's second if they earn it, maybe for another team waiting for their season JGP debut like Amoia/Becker. The Browns are going to be fine, even if they only have one JGP this season. This is dance; it's a marathon, not a sprint, and they have five more seasons of JGP eligibility. Can't wait to see what they'll do as they grow.

The deductions were for an extended lift and a fall (IIRC on the twizzles). They also got no credit for their spin or serp steps (the Greens also didn't get credit for their SeSt, there were lots of typical early-season errors from most of the teams).

FYI, the RD and FD are separate events at Chesapeake (as at most club comps) so there weren't "standings" prior to FD.

Thx for the deduction explanation. I know the Chesapeake events are separate events, but for the purpose of selection speculation both events were considered and we fans often add those up for selection speculation purpose...

Anyway, I am thrilled for the Browns for that RD, but their FD is a work in progress, so no big deal if they miss a second jgp. They are young; no need to rush them into anything.

Avonley & Vadym today!:biggrinbo See guys, that's what you can do when you hit your twizzles:).

I'd be very surprised if the Browns got two events. It would likely mean cutting out Amoia & Becker, and I'm not sure that's a wise call either. They are fairly in this position as they didn't do Chesapeake & only competed the one time at Lake Placid International, but she looked quite improved at Lake Placid. I'd guess it would take at least a top 5 finish for a team outside the top three to get a second spot (providing the Greens do compete). An international B competition for the Browns would be a great idea though.

JGP Kaunas results (ISU bios linked) & videos:

Nguyen/Kolesnik currently are slotted in #6 in Slovenia on the ISU website (to be confirmed by USFS) and the Browns are placeholders for #7 in Armenia.

Allie Rose/JT Michel are listed as a new sub for Armenia (recently added to ISP after Dance Chicago). They and Isabella Amoia/Luca Becker are the 2 alternate teams currently without an assignment.

ETA:

Just noticed that the new team of Chloe Tsoi and Jim Wang will make their JGP debut for TPE in Vancouver this week: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00106406.htm

I love their FD! I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed this team at Nationals this year. Jocelyn has really lovely arms, and they have a nice power together.
H/K 's ISU video went missing for several days after their performance but it is back!

Until then, I found them on this channel, without glitches, only a handful of individual postings from Linz here, so if something comes up missing in the future, check, the "figure skating" channel on youtube:

If the Greens are not able to go to Ostrava, will they go to Yerevan? :(
I hope they will switch A\P for the Green... but then it might take N/V off podium and not having a chance for the Final.
One of them might be either injured or sick...
