Séguin and Bilodeau end skating partnership

But, if he's the classy guy I think he is, he will provide her with some feedback to help her understand what went wrong from his perspective so that she can take that knowledge forward into her next partnership.
I'm not sure, "It's not you, it's me" is particularly helpful to the person hearing it.

I think that is a lot more fair and decent than "staying with someone because nobody else is available"..
I didn't suggest he should continue to skate with her. My comment was simply an expression of empathy for what Julianne must be feeling.

I disagree. That's exactly what she needs to hear - if it's true. A little reassurance can go a long way. And if it's not true, then talking about any specific issues he feels weren't being resolved is valuable information for Julianne and Josee to have going forward. I see this as similar to an exit interview at a company you're leaving on decent terms. Communicating any problems contributing to your departure is important if the company is genuinely interested in making changes to retain future employees.

Maybe Charlie will end up teaming up with Stolbova :p
:watch: He would come to know the true definition of fear....

From a strictly financial perspective, if Charlie has been thinking about this since the Olympics and said nothing to Julianne, then I hope he is reimbursing her for her portion of any choreography they paid for this spring. I think pairs partners are well within their rights to call it quits, but if you do it after choreography and or costumes are paid for, and it is not a mutual decision, then you should be on the hook for your partner’s expenses. Just like you have to pay your previous coach before starting with a new one, SC should insist he pay the full cost for the choreography.

I am sure it will all be settled amicably. So far it has been respectful on both sides.

He does not have to pay her anything. After all, what prevents her from using the same music with that choreography and her costume with her next partner? It is a pity to waste it. And even if they both used it in their new partnerships, it is not as if they would be representing their country at worlds. And at any smaller competitions it won’t matter if by any chance there would be two pairs with the same program. It is the skating that will be marked, after all.

I think that Stoblova would be a terrible choice for Bilodeau! She appears to be a miserable sour person! Again, I don’t think Bilodeau should be released by Skate Canada!

He might be a good match for one of Canada’s stronger junior/senior skaters!

Oh. They had such potential to be world champions. However, I've always ascribed to the belief that it's what you learn about yourself and not about competition results. May they go on to new dreams whether they be skating related or otherwise.

I wonder if Natasha Purich is still seeking a partner. I don't see how she'd be any better than Julianne, except that she might be lighter to lift, but her name popped into my head while I was lying in bed last night.

She had big injury and is recuperating....It was during tryouts.

She doesn't even a 'next' partner yet, and should she get one, the program might not be suitable for them.

He may not have to pay her anything in terms of contractual obligations, should there even be any. However, it might be the appropriate and respectful thing to do. If so in light of the circumstances, I hope he does so.

OK, I've been thinking about this today, and I seriously think Julianne should call up Nadeau. Here's why . . .

He has way too much personality to not become a star.
He really looks like he could have the build to be a strong pairs skater if he works at it & builds the muscle.
His axel & quads are unpredictable at best, and while I love his performances as a singles skater, I really think he could be such a unique personality and standout athlete in pairs. Not to mention have a longer career.
He can jump.
Right now, he's looking at Gogolev coming up, and crashed & burned in 9th place at Nationals last year. This would be a great time for Julianne to get him.

Who is going to be the major competition in pairs? Who are you going to have to beat internationally? Tarasova & Morozov? Sui & Han?

Well, defeating the latter is going to take something really special, and I think Nadeau has that special connection with a live audience. And pretty much any versatility of expression would make you stand out against Tarasova & Morozov.

So there's my pipe dream wish. Julianne will probably team up with some milktoasty guy that has serious pairs experience & can't jump as well as she can. And while I am far from thinking that switching disciplines is easy; it really could not hurt to give Nadeau a call and maybe try out. Maybe wouldn't work at all, but think of the possible payoff if it could. They're about the same age. They could compete a long time. I might as well dream for a short while.

Except he has to want to skate pairs, which means learning a new discipline (i.e. lifts, throws and learning to skate in unison) training with a partner, and sharing the ice with a partner. Not all single skaters are up to the challenge.

He's still a promising skater, and one who is podium-worthy at the National level.

The wild ideas part of me loves @Dobre's idea. I love Nic, and I can't think of another partner that I would be able to watch Julianne with and not (at least initially) cry on the inside about her not skating with Charlie anymore. (TBH, I think I will always cry at least a bit on the inside about that, but... :( )

Moore-Towers was willing to break up with Moscovitch because she was looking for a partner through 2022.
Not the only reason, though maybe the only one she could give. When she and Dylan fell to 4th after winning the senior title the year before, she blamed him. We were told that in her bid to get Beharry to skate with her she often said to his family that she'd never place any higher with Dylan. She was looking for that split long before it happened.
