Séguin and Bilodeau end skating partnership

If he finds a Canadian partner he can qualify for nationals and have the chance to make the Four CCs and Worlds team.

Thank you. I thought since Charlie competed with Julianne at Worlds last season he had to sit out that competition, too.

I don't know about Lubov. Her jumping issues would hold them back.

Her jumping issues are not tech. related but head related...and that came from a horrendous training situation and a horrendous partner...The quality of the character of partner and training situation will always come before anything else and he is not showing himself in the best light. Other than jumps she is far superior than any Cdn girl that we know of. That being said there are so many female single skaters coming up - hundreds of them- so who knows if he has his eye on someone there.

I have seen them live a few times and thought their long program at 2018 Nationals was amazing. They are a team that could make me feel something. However, I respect his decision to not continue. It will be interesting to see if there is someone in the wings or if he is hoping to find someone else, as of yet undetermined.

As for Julianne, if Frank Boudreau-Audet and Max Deschamps still need a partner, she might be able to find an experienced one.

I read somewhere (not sure where now) that Julianne plans to compete as early as this fall but Charlie is content to take more time.

So yeah, I bet she is trying out with Boudreau-Audet and Dechamps.

Suto/Boudreau-Audet was such a lovely pair, really hope he can continue with a good partner, if it's Julianne I'll be more than happy!

Only if his partner was from another country or he was going to represent another country
If they skate for CAN, only if his partner had skated for another country in the last 12 months and didn't have a release by the deadline. Both of which would likely be true, but those are the drivers.

I wonder if Justine Brasseur would be a match for Charlie? I know, she's with Mark Bidar but who knows what his citizenship status is.

This is where my head is at. I think Brasseur/Bardei are entered in some summer comps so we'll see where they are at. Regardless, I can see an awkward situation emerging if Charlie wants a tryout.

I can just SEE Julianne and Maxime. I'm a fan of Boudreau-Audet but I don't see the height diff being that big of an advantage. Something to fix if anything.

Maxime is highly underrated IMHO. He's profoundly strong and deserves a partner finally who knows pairs. I believe Julianne is much smaller than Sydney so he would have no issues handling her. I see their stylistic energy being similar and their body types (complete with matching lack of line) would mesh, too. No brainer in my mind. I could see this team cruising to 2nd at nationals if they start in August. Charlie and partner may end up being better but prob not this year.

Let's do this.

He should talk to Marissa Castelli about how well her partner switch worked for her.
He may also do well looking at Paul Poirier’s career since he decided to “trade up” (not IMO) from Vanessa Crone to achieve lofty goals. It has been seven years since he left Vanessa to skate with Piper and their best results in all that time have been almost identical to his best results with Vanessa. He went to one Olympics with each partner; his best result at Worlds was 7th with Vanessa and 6th with Piper; he won a bronze medal at GPF with Vanessa and placed 5th the only time he made the GPF with Piper. Makes you kind of wonder what he could have achieved by now if he’d stuck with Vanessa.

Who is the "horrendous" partner you're referring to? Dylan Moscovitch or Nodari Maisuradze?

Yeah, I think Dylan was probably the opposite of what barbarafan was describing just from what I've seen of their interactions and how he was so proud of her when he attended her Canadian citizenship ceremony (it seemed beyond just being happy that her citizenship was no longer an obstacle on their quest for the Olympics).

I’m still not quite understanding Charlie’s decision. Who is this mystery partner that he wants to get on the podium with?? Yes, for sure, Julianne has certainly had health struggles, but if she is still committed to the training and the partnership, what they had together seems like much more of a sure thing to progression, than starting all over again with someone new.

Dylan is absolutely one of the nicest men in figure skating. I watched him train for years with both his sister and KMT. I never saw anything that gave me pause about how he treated his partners and he did his best to be a good example to the other pair boys. I'm sure he and Luba had a good partnership too.

He seems focused on Aliona's story. Perhaps he hopes to follow her path. He believes he's achieved what he can with Julianne and perhaps now he can find a Bruno of his own. They say if you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got. I understand though I'm still a bit bitter because I really felt he and Julianne, if they could get back on track, would be able to take the title this year. And that would have been my preference!

He's probably looking for a partner that he can try to do certain skills with that would increase their BV to be more competitive internationally and maybe Julianne was not on the same boat.
Yes, but finding a girl who is up to even trying, let alone landing, quad twists and throws is definitely going to be very difficult. Finding a girl who can consistently land harder SBS jumps (and proving he can also do so) would be even harder.

Yeah, it's a high risk move and he's hoping the risk will be worth it. It may not work out, but he probably thinks staying with Julianne wouldn't lead to better results than they have had already anyway. Every time there's a big change like this, it's always a risk. Some times it pays off and some times it doesn't.

I hope that someone picks ups the phone and has a conversation with KTM, Chartrand, Marchei, ...even Vanessa James. What's up Vanessa? I have heard you are only continuing for 1 more year. Any plans after that? It is a long long long shot, but who would have guessed that Stellato would be where she is today?
My guess is that he has his eyes on a young Canadian skater like Brasseur or a single skater ready to switch.
I am so glad that Aliona/Ingo picked up the phone and called Bruno when he was still in a partnership.

In one of the articles Charlie said he has been thinking about this since the Pyeongchang. He clearly did not take it lightly and I wonder if perhaps he DOES have someone else in mind, given the amount of time he has been pondering this.

Julianne said she knew he was struggling with something but just thought it was the typical post Olympic "down" that many athletes experience.

I respect his decision but also feel bad for Julianne that it was not made mutually. Going forward will not be easy for either of them and I wish them the best of everything.

A friend of mine said to me that maybe we would end up with 2 new fabulous pairs for Canada. That would certainly be nice :)

I also think that Julianne was the stronger skater in many ways! Remember she did skate individually at an elite (senior or junior - cannot recall) level and was quite competitive!

I'm putting my money and Duhamel & Bilodeau.

LOL. (but not really....) Maybe that's what's going to happen here. I can see Meagan wanting to go another cycle..

Or maybe he's waiting to see if KMT will ditch Marinaro.
