I didn't see an appropriate thread in which to place this post, so I figured I would create a thread for bragging about restaurants and other places in your home area which you are proud of or like to frequent.

A local Richmond, VA restauranteur has received a very important honor, following others that he and his restaurant have received since its opening a few years ago. It is one of my favorite places on Earth and certainly like no other place I have ever dined:

My home city doesn't have much to brag about (I live in a small city in southern Ontario). Toronto on the other hand has much better options.

My favourite places in Toronto and by extension Mississauga, Scarborough, etc. are:

Charlie's Caribbean Cuisine (Indian and Chinese Trinidadian food)

Benab Family Restaurant (Chinese and Indian Guyanese food - just a few doors down from Charlie's)

Seven Lives Tacos Y Mariscos (specialize in seafood tacos but they do have one pork option and one veggie option)
https://www.facebook.com/SevenLivesTacosYMariscos/

Pho Ga Banh Cuon (I don't care for their pho but their banh cuon is amazing)

Pai Northern Thai Kitchen (either this place or Sukhothai if I want Thai food)

Araliya Catering (probably the only Sri Lankan Sinhalese place I've found)
https://www.zomato.com/toronto/araliya-scarborough-gta

Hopper Hut (this is where I go if I want Sri Lankan Tamil food)

Emporium Latino (this is actually a tiny Salvadorian grocery store but at the back, they make food and they have some of the best pupusas I`ve ever tried)

Stockyards Smokehouse and Larder (barbecue)

Simone's Caribbean Restaurant (Jamaican food - I've only been here once but I thought it was pretty good)

Yes, you must! I also love Toronto. A food item unique to Toronto was the Vatican on Ice at Burger Priest! A grilled cheese ice cream sandwich!

A grilled cheese ice cream sandwich? That boggles my mind!

We don't have many awesome places here in my small city in nova scotia but I really enjoy a place called Mezz which is a franchise from Dartmouth NS. It is lebanese food. I really like their shawarmas and donairs

A friend of mine once told me that Vancouver is a foodie heaven. I've never been but apparently there's a ton of variety there.

I don't really know about that. 'Foodie heaven' is relative. Sure there are lots of dining options here, but Vancouver is not so cosmopolitan as Toronto or Montreal, and that is reflected in its restaurant choices. For example, I've never found a Greek restaurant here that compares to Greek restaurants in Toronto. And I would think that New York City particularly fits the bill of a foodie heaven.

However, I don't dine out that much, so my opinion is probably of limited value.

What we do have here is a spectacular array of Asian restaurants - Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Indian. One of my favourite Asian restaurants is a Korean hot-pot 'self-cooking' one, where you cook your own soup at the table (so yummy!), or grill fish/seafood/meats on a grill in the center of the table.

My brother lives in Winnipeg and when he's come to visit and ordered out from a Chinese Szechuan restaurant, he's said that such 'real Chinese' is not to be had in Winnipeg.

If you visit Jerusalem there are a few non-kosher restaurants that are really good:

Talbiye: https://www.google.co.il/search?q=t...3975651006699753588,rc_q:Talbiye,ru_q:Talbiye

Satya: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaur..._Restaurant-Jerusalem_Jerusalem_District.html

Azura is in the market, an experience in itself. Their signature dish with spiced meat and eggplant is my favorite dish: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaur...ura-Jerusalem_Jerusalem_District.html?m=19905

And for special occasions because it’s on the expensive side, Anna Ticho upstairs from an art museum, fish and vegetarian: https://www.touristisrael.com/restaurants/anna-ticho-restaurant-jerusalem/

A friend of mine who once lived in Vancouver said that the city also had a growing Latin American population at that time (which was awhile ago). I wonder if there's good Latin American food available there.

I think there is a fair number of Latin American restaurants, particularly Mexican.
