This is false. Junior pairs are not allowed to do triples in the short program. The years alternate like this: double loop or double axel, double flip or double axel, and double lutz. On the year of required double lutz, they are not allowed to do a double axel. No triple jumps are allowed in junior short programs ever.
Oh, okay. I guess I must have been confusing it with the throw jumps. Those are also a specific takeoff each year, right? But it can be either a double or a triple?

Juniors can do any throw triple they want in the long, but in the short they are required to do a double or triple loop throw this year. I believe it sometimes alternates with a sal, but I could be wrong.

Salchow, Loop and Toe Loop IIRC

I've seen a lot of our pairs skaters do nice triples on their own in practice. It's when they try to do them SBS and in competition that's the problem.
I get that it is hard...........but I also think it has become a mind game. It can not be harder than many of the lifts that must be coordinated to the millisecond

Would you give it positive GOE? Because then we have to debate clean:p
Yes. :) The 3sals I saw Chris Knierim land in practice looked like the "effortless" one linked in his home rink clip posted above.

Yes, of course. There usually is so much negativity in this thread about the U.S. pairs' sbs jumping woes that I just wanted to mention the actual triples that I saw Chris Knierim land in practice in Lake Placid. Landing the sbs triples in competition is as much, if not more, a mental challenge for many of our pair skaters, and Chris has stated he needs to "do a lot of reps" in order to increase his chances of success in competition. In the practices I saw, Stellato & Bartholomay both looked very solid on their sbs triples (aside from Deanna's flukey 3S fall in the FS) and Haven Denney appears to have improved her consistency on the 3S, too.

This photo I took is dark but here was a cute moment with Deanna & Alexa during the autograph session on Sunday: https://twitter.com/SylviaUnseen/status/936279412579778560

USFS organized 2 team autograph sessions at Skate America this year but it's easy to miss them on the concourse. I happened to come across the men/pairs (1st photo) in the early afternoon on Sunday and I never saw the dance/ladies (2nd photo): https://www.instagram.com/p/BcIGb_zFpjU/?hl=en&taken-by=usfigureskating
The 3 pairs sat in the middle of the long table - shots from 2 angles:

According to USFS' Twitter timeline, the dance/ladies signed autographs in the late afternoon on Friday (day before they competed): https://twitter.com/USFigureSkating/status/934187824714342401

They've been held for at least a few years now. It's always only Team USA skaters.

Wow..I had to go bumrush them all...... Julia Sebestyen, Angela MANY times, Alissa, Miki, Brian Joubert, Peter T, Tan, Ben..... I had to wear my track suit and sneaks so I could crush any little kids that got in front of me down the hallways..

But don't get me wrong I would bumrush the stands too..... ahhhh seems like yesterday... Josee Chouinard, Kevin VDP, Brooke Castile... I have NO shame....

:)

But don't even get me started on "the Katarina Witt incident" :angryfire

At my first SA in 2004 I spotted Joubert all the way across the arena and took off like a crazy person to get a photo with him.

Happy to see Tarah Kayne & Danny O'Shea back competing again! :) (Their last full competition was NHK Trophy just over a year ago). They reportedly scored 56.38 in their Golden Spin SP & are in 3rd place behind 2 RUS pairs - here's their "All I Ask of You" (choreo. by Massimo Scali): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXAxEjRRB9A

I had a chance to watch it. It was a decent re-entry into competitive skating. She fell on the SBS 3S, but landed the throw triple jump. I think they got the 3 twist off as well

I don't think I've ever seen a Josh Groban/Emmy Rossum duet of All I Ask of You so they must've had that specially cut.

The underrotation error on the twist didn't seem too egregious, surprised they got called downgrade, they must be looking at the takeoff and landing of the twist together. Despite their mistakes it is a good program and good fit for them.

I liked K/O's program, I think. I was actually having a seizure from the MTV music video like camera work, but their skating helped me through it. BTW, they got the elusive << call on the 3twist. But the Nationals callers don't seem to have that button so they probably won't need to worry too much.

Yeah the camera work made me crazy, just crazy. :scream: But I'm so glad to see Tarah and Danny competing again! :cheer2:
