Stepanova & Bukin are a young team pushing the technical limits. I do see them climbing the ranks, but not making dramatic headway until after the Olympic turnover.
Bobrova & Soloviev have done their job this quadrennium, demonstrating they can bring in the consistent international scores outside of Russia. It took them a season to prove it after the injury, but I think they've done it.
The top ten is still a big fight this season, with yet another team stepping back into competition. S&B have the advantage of taking on Coomes & Buckland at Europeans in Russia. And I do think it's plausible for Stepanova & Bukin to best Gilles & Poirier outside of Russia, though it will be worth watching. Beyond that, S&B have work to do. They would need a win over a team with a World medal.
Until they get one--preferably somewhere outside of Russia--I don't see them in the top-five discussion yet. I also don't see any limits for how high S&B could climb within the next two seasons. Really depends a lot on who gets out and how much S&B develop as a team. I just think the disappearance of 3-7 top eight dance teams would do a great deal to generate strong momentum for this young Russian team. (Though there are a bunch of young teams I think could catch them four years down the road).
