Maybe Gilles/Poirier should consider a coaching change? It looks to me that Lane got both Crone/Poirier and now Gilles/Poirier to a certain level, but they don`t manage to make that extra step to really become competitive with the top teams.

Did Kieffer ever try out with Emily Samuelson?
yes he did. And I think Vanessa had shingles for a while.
Marie France set up the try out for them. They had to meet between Detroit and Montreal on private ice. they had a beautiful FD. the plan was for one to get released and then skate for that country. They would have trained with MF and Patch. As far as the others in the know, there is no video or photos (unless they were held privately). They trained at DSC for a few months.
Keiffer tried out with a few girls.

All three teams have a good chance to win U.S. Champs this year, if Chock/Bates come out with solid routines.
As you've mentioned before about whatever message the judges were sending to the Shibutanis at Worlds, I think related to that was H/D's third place placement in the SD. That really threw everything into a blender. S/S were comfortable ahead of H/D as late as the 4CC, which had other placement ramifications that were just understood as the way it was-- for example, W/P maintained a lead over H/D in the PCS even if W/P were flubbing something on the technical side. The second place Canadian team was the judge's preference-- again using PCS-- over what was then the third place American team.
Lo and behold, today we have H/D actually beating (albeit barely) W/P in the PCS in Canada! So, yes, if C/B also have good programs, it'll be an incredible battle for #1 in the US.

You may find the Shibs boring, but a few pages in the PBP thread contained multiple posts saying H/D's FD was boring. It's all subjective. The fact is the Shibs are formidable opponents and shouldn't be underestimated.
Absolutely, I am not saying it will be easy.

Poirier will never leave Carole Lane. I personally have no idea what really happened with C/P breakup but I did read on FSU (as that was the only figureskating place I knew of) that Vanessa wanted to change coaching situation & it was a no go with Paul & that was a prob. between them. I also read at another time that the problem was Vanessa's posture. In any case can you fix skating skills and a complete lack of chemistry? Acting lessons can only take you so far.

V/M's programs this year are just glorious already - she in particular has blossomed into one of the all-time greats, in my opinion. If only Zueva had given them (and D/W, for that matter) that calibre of material when they were with her!

Why have Weaver/Poje gone back to Je Suis Malade? Is Morozov that bad a coach/choreographer that he's unable to give them anything fresh in an Olympic season? Actually, don't answer that.

After seeing the work of their top three teams, especially the FD's, I think it's fair to say that the Montreal team has absolutely nailed it this season. They're as different from each other as can be, so those complaints about one style are out of the window. And I'd include the rest of their teams in there as well in terms of diversity of programs-- I've stated multiple times how much I enjoy F-B/S's Spanish FD.

Oh yeah. They're just on fire this year. And to think that one of their best team isn't going to Korea is just unbelievable. :( Oh Denmark. You could have done wonders.

This is something I have had on my chest since yesterday, so I'll let the steam go out.

Dear Victoria Sinitsina,
Please drop your partner before he drops you even more harshly/dangerously than he did yesterday.
Katsalapov might be a great champion one day in solo ice dance.
In couple ice dance, he's just a disgrace.
So please, put your safety first and find yourself another partner, or turn to another part of skating or another interest.
I will be very happy to follow you in your future adventures, especially if you're still in one piece.

Love.

Sinitsina / Katsalapov SD in Minsk yesterday.

He’s so bad! Why won’t she say “time to retire!” It doesn’t even have to be insulting. All his shoulder problems have made it impossible for him to lift. It’s a fact. He can’t lift anymore. End of story. He can’t lift in a way that means success in ijs ice dance. Not possible. His shoulders worse than shabalin knee. No discussions or debate really. No lifting should mean no competing. She can say it’s a grand tragedy of ice dance if she wants.

Omg I'm laughing at the Brits on eurosport commenting W/P : they didn't see it was a recycling of an old program and they're like "it was sensational, it's crazy what a coaching change can do"
Pasquale is not amused I'm sure :P.

I’m a relatively new ice dance fan so I haven’t seen W/P’s original JSM. When I heard they were reusing the music I decided not to watch the old program and build my impression based solely on the new program. After watching it, I can tell that there’s a world of difference between this program and Spartacus. W/P are wholly invested in JSM emotionally and skate like every movement is coming from their soul. Just based on that, I don’t care if it’s sort of a repeat. The program and their connection to it is just so much better. I think they made the right decision.

Dance fans... please help me ! :D
These are the world rankings : http://www.isuresults.com/ws/ws/wsdance.htm
P/C are 7th, V/M are 8th. V/M had 2 seasons off, P/C didn't compete half of 2015-2016 + no challenger last year.
Is it going to change/change a lot/stay that way ?
And if the latter : Are they both not going to skate in the last group at the Olympics ? Or does it go another way ?

Are you going to watch their 2012 Nice Worlds FD now, after Skate Canada? You really should, because the synergy of a French audience responding to the lyrics and the “leave it all out on the floor” passion of Kaitlyn just built and built to this emotional climax. It’s one of the most touching, authentic moments in the past quad.

After reading your comment I decided to go ahead and watch it, and wow, literal goosebumps throughout the entire program. They held nothing back. B.esp commentators hit the nail right on the head: “you can interpret something...but they lived it.” Couldn’t agree more.
What have I been doing with my life that I haven’t watched that until now :wuzrobbed

Those rankings change quite a bit throughout the season. One of the reasons why the Shibs and B&S are so high right now is that it was updated after Rostelecom giving them some points while the other teams haven't had the chance to earn them yet.

One important thing to note is that the first column (ISU championships) gives temporary points for Euros/4CCs until they get replaced by Olympic or World rankings. Thus, the non-European teams will be at a disadvantage in the short dance draw at the Olympics because none of the top contenders will be at 4CCs while the others have several hundred more points from competing at Europeans. That's the way it's been the past few seasons, but if it's changed, feel free to correct me.

I thought the top 10 ranked teams in the world draw the last 10 spots (i.e. last 2 groups) in the SD. So P/C and V/M could be in either the last or next to last group, as could B/S (currently #1), C/B, Shibs, etc.
