I notice she's using the same dress as GWTW. Seems odd.
It would be fun if we had the Battles of the Carmens again with those two!
Also Hannah Dawson, who came second in that group attempted 6 triples, 5 of which were rotated, including 2 3Lz and a 2A+3T. I was actually in the rink photographing the last two groups and those two girls were very impressive to watch.Well I didn't get to see either of her programs on the Minto stream (it was hard to manage the schedule) - but Alison Schumacher landed six clean triples in her free! She also skated a clean short. She must be a front runner for one of the JGP spots.

Unfortunately Cotop did not have a good skate in group 1, which I also missed due to an issue with the stream at the time. Maybe it was a good thing.....
That's what I thought it could be. I'm curious to see what Austman, Tamura and Decelles have for their programs, since they're the dark horses.

Alaine's FS from the Minto Skate.
Sunset Boulevard.PS I like Alaine's FP. Don't know the music.
Who choreographed Pina?
Sunset Boulevard...
Oh hey!Alaine either saw my many suggestions for Med or anyone to use music from Sunset Boulevard movie, or else Alaine was intrigued by music from the recent Broadway play.

I like Sunset Boulevard. It's not overused like Phantom or Les Mis. Here's hoping she has a great season.
Or she's a closet Viktoria Helgesson fan
I actually see some similarities in program construction between the two, but I think I like Vicky's music cut better, the ending builds better. Also just about every jump accents the music really well, which Alaine could definitely use more of.
That was one of my favorite women's programs this decade, so Alaine has a lot to live up to.![]()
Oh thank you for thatYes, not overused if at all used. It's dramatic music which being not overused offers a lot of room for creative interpretation! Here's hoping Alaine is able to sink her blades into it.She needs a more dramatic costume of course. She must be working on a fitting costume surely. She could even think about incorporating a semblance of a very lightweight hint of a black lace veil and elbow length white gloves. You're right @alchemy void that Vicky's SB cut builds for a better ending, not petering out and then trying to abruptly rise to an ending crescendo the way Alaine's cut does.

Here's a costume idea: Carol Burnett as 'Nora' Desmond![]()

Meanwhile, this haunting and mysterious yet elegant and glamorous music from Laura soundtrack I think would work beautifully for Kaetlyn Osmond. I think it would fit her personality better than Black Swan. I always felt the Laura theme would have suited Alissa Csizny to T as well!

Oh wow, I didn't realize Sunset Boulevard had been used before. Thanks! It's nice to see someone was clever enough to explore it previously. There's maybe others who have used it before too, but not often. It's a good choice for Alaine if she can commit to portraying a character and feeling the music.
I like Vicky's white fur cuffs and her hairstyling!
Patti LePone is my favorite Nora
Not sure if it's true but someone was telling me that her coaches have been trying to convince her family to stay at one training center this year versus always travelling around in the RV (given this is an olympic year), and that they were going to do it. Not sure if it's true but hopefully it is because I agree that it would help her and she has a lot of potential.Just watched Alaine's FP - sort of reminds me of her GWTW program. I know it's early in the season but I still wish she'd focus on having one primary coach/training base. Feels like she's been stagnating; while KO and Gabby continue to improve..(I know she did win Cdns two seasons ago).
Agreed. Loved both their performances! Also Hannah Dawson, who came second in that group attempted 6 triples, 5 of which were rotated, including 2 3Lz and a 2A+3T. I was actually in the rink photographing the last two groups and those two girls were very impressive to watch.
Correct it is NormaIt's actually 'Norma' Desmond. Carol Burnett was either parodying her parody or perhaps trying to avoid character-name infringement.![]()

It would be absolutely coooooool if any of the skating girls put into the routine a part with "Norma Desmond as Charlie Chaplin".

I love Patti LuPone in many roles (Oliver, Evita, Les Mis, Gypsy, Can-Can)....... but she was SO WRONG for "Norma Desmond"..
(too young in face and voice, too "brooklyn" looking, too upbeat and modern-mimicked). "Norma Desmond" can NOT look like all my relatives.....
