Really, part deux

The staff here at the hospital in Rimbey have really gone above and beyond to look after Lee... we've been here for about 6 weeks, and she gets better every day. The physio team are making special efforts to try getting to her every day; the speech path and dietician are working together to advance her rehab in the areas of swallowing, eating, and communicating; the nursing team has been excellent with her care and comfort, and the care assistants have spoiled her rotten.

Some of you noticed that she got on Facebook a little bit yoday; working a touchscreen phone is still tough, as is typing on a laptop, but the dexterity and control is coming back, so I expect to see her online more often.. just give her time. She needs to work on doing this herself - that's part of the therapy aspect- so I'm not going to type for her or set up voice recognition for her. Working through the frustration is good practice for relearning to do a lot of things.

I'm starting to feel like I can get away and work a bit fairly soon, and I need her to be able to manage communication on her own before I leave...if she continues to improve at this rate, that looks to be doable.

Thanks for the cards, the support, and the thoughts and prayers... I'm sure you are all contributing to her recovery!

More later...
