Really, part deux

Great news! I was thinking of you both on Canada Day and giving thanks for our health care system which has been such a support to you both. Enjoy the "up" times - I'm hoping and praying for fewer and fewer "down" times on that roller coaster.

If you would like to share the July 1st fireworks from Ottawa with Lee, here's a link to the CBC YouTube video, complete with music: https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=0Lr0KHXwTeY
It was supposed to have lasted 20 minutes & 17 seconds (for 2017, eh) but I didn't time it :)

Dr Pepper tastes like cough syrup to me... maybe 1/2 dark rum... <shudder> ... thanks guys - today was even better! We've been really happy with her progress this week!
I'm so happy for you both. Hopefully, she can start real rehab soon. It will be hard work relearning to walk, but Lee is a fighter as she's clearly demonstrated. Every day you can smile at the end of the day was a good day.

I so agree with that..The more Lee can move around the less pesky internal problems will pop up. And it feels so great.Just remember that she will be exhausted after and will sleep but it is a good thing...Take good care both of you.

@Gerry your story taking @Really outside in the wheel chair reminded me of when we did that for the first time with my dad, for us that was the first step towards the later total escape An certainly made visits more fun. Let's hope this is a step up that ladder towards home. I think that is when my dad also started with the occupational therapist then progress really started.

Gosh! I found a video on YouTube that's pretty amazing to me.
104 year old woman's secret: 3 Dr. Peppers a day. I was just thinking, too, that those old Dr. Pepper bottles have "10, 2 and 4". I actually have a couple of the first bottles ever made where "10, 2 and 4" is actually molded into the bottle and it's not painted on there. I wonder if that lady drinks them at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

After watching that, I may just switch to Dr. Pepper and drink them at 10a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

I also remember a commercial when I was really young where people actually heated up Dr. Pepper on the stove and added a slice of lemon to it. I actually found one of those old commercials.
Hot Dr. Pepper.

@Gerry I'm so happy that Lee got to go outside using the wheelchair, and drinking Dr. Pepper, too! That's too awesome for words, and my prayers continue for you and Lee! I remember the first time I finally got to go outside at NurseCare using a wheelchair. It was a month after I had the skin grafts on my leg which was in August of 2011. A CNA pushed me outside on the patio, and I decided to get a Coke. It was the first Coke I had since April of 2011. That Coke was so strong that I couldn't drink all of it. I was only able to drink about half of it.

I'm just so excited and happy for Lee. God bless you both!

Obviously Lee has tried every other medicine in the last nine months, why not some Dr. Pepper? :P

I'm so happy she is doing better, and hopefully the non-carbonated doctor is right, and things will sort themselves out so she doesn't require more surgery. Sending positive thoughts that all this recent progress is a great sign for things to come.

Hi there!

It's Day 235... July 15, and things are progressing!

About a week after PatC came to visit, Lee started making some progress. She is more alert, talks better, engages in more complex conversations, and is continuing to show lots of growth in physical dexterity and strength. She us also starting to eat more... soups, pudding, yogurt, ice cream... it makes us happy to see her start that!

We get out and about pretty much every day for a while, grab some fresh air and vitamin D. The grandkids came by on Parade day and we all went out to watch the old cars, the horses, and the parade floats. It is good to see her engage with the world!

We still have a long ways to go; but lately, I've started to believe that the light at the end of the tunnel might not be an oncoming train, after all!

This has been quite a journey... thanks for sharing it with us!

More to come...
