From Russia with love [#23]: Spring/Summer 2016

If I understand well he is and was in the reverse team .. http://tass.ru/sport/3272663
"After the April meeting of the Expert Council of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, which was devoted to the results of the season in figure skating, it was noted that the 33-year-old Plushenko is still in the reserve team."

But it's funny, yes...

They are probably not comfortable with the new generation yet, but by 2018 they should be. If Plushy is actually able to compete with them and is healthy, I don't see why he shouldn't be given a chance.

The actively competing younger skater(s) who will be left out of the team so he can retain a spot probably won't find it so funny.

The young skaters just have to skate well consistently to remove any doubts. Russia will likely have two spots in 2018, and not just one like they did in 2014.

And realistically Kovtun should've been able to place at least 9th and secure 3 spots for next year, but yeah. Having Plushenko when there's at least 2 spots isn't really all that unfair IMO :shuffle: he delivers

You can't say a younger skater who will be left out the team... Check it last season. Moris, Zhan Bush, even Artur were in the team..

But we have to wait until 19 May..

And I don't think he will compete. I know his shedule, his shows..so I hardly believe he can prepare for the competitions. And because of his schedule is a well-known thing, he shared it, I find the decision of federation funny..

The doctor allows his on ice training in September.

Morozov has one daughter, Annabelle, who I think is 15. :slinkaway But I have yet to see any receipts that Morozov is actually Davankova's husband...where are they?

So Annabelle's 'step-mom' is only 3 years older than her.
I find it creepier that Annabelle looks older then Vasilisa.

Has Morozov been in Paris lately?
I'm surprised though that Morozov is so keen on marrying these young women. He also said in an interview that he would've married Miki if not for her mother. If he's just interested in teenage girls, why bother marrying them? Why not just date them? It's not as though girls that age are really looking for marriage anyway. Is he trying to prove to the world that (this time) he's "serious"?

Maybe for a Visa, so she can stay in the US?

She posts a lot of hints, it also seems like someone is always photographing her, and likes doing it ;)
She has been in NJ for a year now, her first appearance in NJ from her insta was almost 2 years ago, when she still did pairs.

So that leaves 1 spot (maybe 2 if a miracle happens) for at least 6-7 other men to fight over.

How can you use "delivers" in the present tense when he hasn't competed in over 2 years (and we saw what happened the last time), he won't compete this season, he's had more major surgeries since then, and he's 33 years old already? Delivers what? Personally, I would prefer to watch men competing in Korea whose spines are not held together with bolts, chicken wire and gaffa tape, but that's just me.

Did you actually read my post? The word 'delivers' is not in it- anywhere. Even if it was, there would have been an 'if' before that, and there is a sentence that starts with 'if' (without the word 'delivers' which you are accusing me of using in the present tense). It all depends on what he would be capable of in 2018 and what other skaters would be doing. He is old but I wouldn't draw conclusions based on imagination. Let the present reveal itself when the time comes.

ETA: OOPS! Looks like the 'ignore' did it again. Apologies to Zebraswan.

However, it sounds like the poster in question was making a statement about Plushenko based on his history that he delivers, and he did in 2014 (until the injury made him withdraw from the individual competition). That is far less likely in 2018, however. If he cannot skate at a high level, I doubt that the RSF will give him the spot. They will have plenty of alternatives in 2018.

You are imagining a lot and accusing me without reading my post.

Stop putting words in my mouth.

 Chill out. Zebraswan had quoted Karpenko and was clearly responding to him in that part of her post.

I wish he would compete like a full season rather just doing the Olympics when he feels like (yes I know did Volvo Cup in 2013-2014), but then it's really incredible what he's able to die with all the injuries.

He will need to go through the Russian nationals to make the Olympic team- if he is capable of skating at that level. I really think he can't compete at that level now, and I am optimistic about the younger Russian men to be good enough to earn those spots for themselves. It's not just Kovtun vs Plushenko anymore.

Yuko is back on the ice!:cheer2:However, they are working slowly & carefully, & Smirnov says they probably won't be ready right for the start of next season.

I hope they will be very careful and be able to compete at the nationals. Could they be ready by Rostelecom? It could be a good tune up. May be they should start competing with really minor competitions. They have had such bad luck throughout their career! I hope they can end it on a positive note.

Maybe the masking tape, crazy glue and staples only comes with a 10 minute warranty ..good for 1 competition only

any chance of you telling us briefly what he said?

He said that there were issues with Anna's work ethic and that neither he nor the coaches were happy with her commitment (plus there were other reasons he doesn't want to go into). Her injury wasn't that bad and had nothing to do with his decision to leave. The decision was made after careful discussion with the coaches. He teamed up with Popova because there was no one else around in Russia and he didn't want to sit out a year waiting for the release of any foreign girl. He ends the interview by saying that in sport everyone is out for themselves and "the people who are around the athlete are only there to help him achieve his goals".

Oh, and he and Popova will stay in Kustarova's group.

What i dont understand is why is it so selfish to say to your partner - "We are not working out. I am not happy skating with you for such and such reasons. I am looking for somebody else and if you want to continue - you should too. Let train together to stay in shape for our potential futures apart. Thanks for all the good things we had together"?
Is that too adult and too normal for figure skating???

You know what I mean by that. :D he doesn't feck up his program like all of the other Russian men. Since.. 2004? :saint: he can be counted on, Kovtun should be retired forever as far as I'm concerned. Plushenko gets way too much crap from people.

Coach Mishin and his students (Tuktamysheva, Petrov, Nugumanova, Gumennik, Semenenko) currently are in Toronto area (Guelph FSC) for a high performance seminar: https://www.instagram.com/p/BFIGlNLQeJ4/?taken-by=liza_nugumanova
(who is the young blond girl, 2nd from the left?)
Thanks to @Alez for identifying Alisa Lozko as the young blond (born June 1, 2002): http://www.fskate.ru/skaters/3390.html
From the 2016 Sportland Trophy thread:
Alisa Lozko RUS 181.32, 120.20 in FS - I think her jumps were: 3Lz, 'tano 3F-half loop-3S, 3T to 2A, 3Lo, 'tano 3F, 3Lo+2Lo, 2A.
Lozko's winning Jr. free skate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZudnUBFfTI0
1 Alisa LOZKO RUS 120.20 62.87 57.33 7.08 6.75 7.33 7.42 7.25 0.00 #29
Protocol shows 3Lo<+2Lo so 6 of 7 triples landed cleanly.

And furthermore - Plushenko doesn't lack motivation. He doesn't need to be manipulated to come into train and work everyday like Tarasova has to do with Kovtun. He's the one that has to be sent home by authorities or he'll end up losing a limb. If he can walk he's going to try.

Someone like Kovtun doesn't have the same passion for skating, I think people often forget that Plushenko isn't going to show up and compete at a competition if he can't get through the program. The team event in Sochi was his only focus/goal and he delivered the goods, once again.. He can be counted on.
