Final season of American Idol AI15

Lauren having a crush on Mackenzie was cute. Mackenzie looked uncomfortable in that duet. Fantasia/La Porsha duet was the best. Nick was off pitch in the beginning of 'Man in the Mirror'.

I haven't watch all season but this girl with Scotty? Thank goodness Keith spoke truth, WTF is true

But then they sent her through. I don't know whether it's worse to pretend that someone is good or to say that they're not and then put them through. They put her through because she's an off the grid country girl who they hope will get interest purely because of that, not because of talent. And I think they put Gianna through because of her stage mother.

spoilers for the second semi-final: http://www.mjsbigblog.com/american-idol-2016-spoilers-semifinal-2-results-mentors-songs.htm

So, the judges are going to eliminate six of the remaining fourteen and then America gets to pick two to join the top ten. Then America votes off two per week.

a girl that comes in costume from a dale evans biopic produced by busch gardens is going through by hell or high water. if only they saw the humor in it and gave her something from annie get your gun.

Interesting that no men made it through. Five females and two boys. But the tweens love their non-threatingly semi-cute boys to speed-vote for. I'm fine with MacKenzie going through. But Thomas is so bad. His vocal affections are through the roof and are incredibly annoying. I can't believe he is going through and James is going home.

Is that the guy that ends every sentence in the song with "eh". I can't even describe it. Drives me crazy!!!!

I finally had a chance to watch last night, after missing it for a few weeks. The only one that stood out for me was Sonika. Very beautiful voice, and seemed very comfortable on stage.
I like Sonika the most out of this year's singers, but she does not look comfortable at all on stage -- she looks terrified! Smile, girl!

She reminds me of how Carrie Underwood was early in her season. It may be an advantage that she isn't super confident right now because it may keep her from going the Pia route. People who have nothing to learn sometimes do badly on shows like this. Of the 12 who sang this week she is my favorite.

Olivia and Trent were my favorites tonight. I didn't get the judges raving about Dalton, but I guess he's the chosen one out of the guys.

That's the old Jennifer. She must have been doing a lot of work over the last few years to get to this (vocals start around the 2:00) mark:

2015 AMAs Jennifer Lopez Opening Performance

This shouldn't count for anything but I think she is just so damned beautiful. And everytime the camera pans to her I say the same thing: Life is unfair!!!! If I was going to Vegas I'd probably try to catch her show before I'd see Brittany, Mariah and Celine. I know I'm in a minority on this. Now if Janet Jackson played Vegas I'd want to see her before anyone else.

Those 2 were my favorites too. I like Dalton for the way he changes up the songs. He's definitely not cookie-cutter & he has a decent voice. Most of the people who have better voices severely disappointed me last night. It was mostly a boring show. I don't know if the vocal coaches try to encourage people to make better song choices or if they just rehearse what the contestants pick but when the song choices are as horrendous & as boring as most of them were last night I wish someone had the cahones to say NO, you can't sing that.

I choose to have a long leisurely bubblebath and read my book instead of watching last night. From the lack of comments, it seems I made the right choice.

I just did the 1 hour in 10 minutes flash through last night's. Most everyone was ok. I'm still waiting for wow.

I'm only watching for David Cook, but I thought the first song between Kellie Pickler and red-haired girl was really cute.

I'll just talk to myself; it's cool. :p

I love Haley and thought she was totally robbed on her season, but Benny & the Jets is possibly one of the most stupidest songs ever recorded and I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing it again.

eta: JLo doing some historical revision. "we thought Haley was going to win." No. No you didn't. You all treated her like crap.

The Daughtry duet was okay.

David up now with the World I Know. I loved it when did this on the show. On this, he's sort of blowing away the contestant, though their harmony parts are very nice.

Not loving Light On, girl with pink hair doesn't really have a rock sensibility so this song isn't working for her.

So the judges will probably love it. And they do.

Meh.

Good show tonight. As it goes, my cable went out right before David and Olivia, came back when they'd already started singing, but I saw a recording of it.

I thought many of the duets were pretty good. And yes, Jho and her stupid comments about Haley - I, too, remember the bus that ran over Haley repeatedly courtesy of Ms L.

Speaking of the bus, did you hear it vrooming tonight? The script the judges were reading from was pretty obvious. I don't agree with some of those cuts. Weird, weird final season, but I did enjoy seeing them invite some of the idols back to mentor.

I think that CJ, Adam, and Kory suffered because they weren't as good as their duet partners, but I don't think the judges ever were going to put them through anyway. I think Manny and Trent benefited from singing with Jordin because she was a good mentor, but isn't such a good singer that they pale in comparison. Though I think they were going to go through anyway.

There's quite a bit of fodder. I just hope that the judges don't put the people I consider to be fodder into the top eight. I think that some of the youngsters, like Jean and Tristan, went through this week because they are young and cute, not because of they sang better than all the ones who were cut this week. There definitely were better performances. (I'm surprised that they haven't been pushing Olivia more, though I think they're starting to see the wisdom in supporting her.)

I would have liked for Melinda Doolittle to sing My Funny Valentine.

Jordin is really tall. She looks even taller because she's thinner now.

So, am I right that the only country girl left is the one who is off the grid? Alrighty then.

I hate when the judges know that the contestant didn't really have much to do with the song choice but criticize the song choice. I think they were just looking for an excuse to cut Shelby. It's so clear that Shelby was better than Tristan. Maybe Haley consoled Shelby backstage. It's not like Shelby had a shot at winning, but it's annoying.

I'm pretty sure the judges and producers had decided who was going to go through even before the singers did the duets.

It seems that this week the duets were better than last week. Whereas the solo performances were better last week. I wish the judges would've picked the top 14 after the top 24 had performed so that the contestants would be judged fairly. Some contestants that shouldn't have made it only made it because they were in a weaker group. Others that didn't make it when they should've was because they were in a stronger group.
Adam should've been in and Thomas out.
Jenn should've been out and Amelia in.
Shelbie should've been in and Gianna out.

Wow, my ranking of the two nights was much different than what the judges thought. How I ranked everybody:

1. Trent Harmon
2. Shelbie Z - SENT HOME
3. Manny Torres
4. Amelia Eisenhauer - SENT HOME
5. Dalton Rapattoni
6. Adam Lasher - SENT HOME
7. CJ Johnson - SENT HOME

And the ones I would have sent home:

8. Olivia Rox - STAYED
9. Kory Wheeler
10. Tristan McIntosh - STAYED
11. Lee Jean - STAYED
12. Jenn Blosil - STAYED

So, am I right that the only country girl left is the one who is off the grid? Alrighty then.

Tristan McIntosh was put through tonight.

Who was the red haired girl who sang the first song with Kellie? I was surprised she didn't make it through. Or did she? I got a phone call after Light On and wasn't really paying attention after that.
