Your Favorite Sandwiches (yum)

I say that I make grilled cheese, but what I really mean is toast with broiled cheese on top until the cheese starts to get browned and crispy. Very sharp cheddar!

Toaster oven is perfect for this, though regular oven also works.

I love sandwiches!

1. I can't remember the last time I went to a chain restaurant, especially one that sells sandwiches.
2. Either the decadent grilled cheese at Skillet (upscale comfort food), or the Chaka's Favorite at HoneyHole (minus the peppers). Fun fact - the latter used to be called Chachi's favorite, until Scott Baio was revealed to be such an ass, so they changed the name.
3. I do like to make a grilled cheese sometimes, but I haven't had sliced bread in forever, so these days it's usually a tuna melt on a bagel.

I love broiled cheese that is on top of bread using very sharp cheddar. Given that I am limiting my carbs, I use Joseph's pocket-less pita bread that only had 60 calories and 9 carbs. The air fryer does a great job without getting the oven involved!

I just remembered one of my favorite chain sandwiches. Bennigan’s Monte Cristo. Basically fried French toast with meat and cheese added. Not sure Bennigan’s is even around anymore (not near me) and it’s not likely something I would get now but back when I was young and healthier, yum!

oooh when I was young there was a chain restaurant in the mall called The Magic Crepe Pan that had a great monte cristo! I loved it, although the bread was basically wonder bread on steroids and I'm pretty certain there were no nutrients in the sandwich at all.

A: Wegman’s Danny’s Special Sub.

B: Any Bodega egg, meat and. cheese sandwich. And although no longer in business, I used to get this amazing chicken caesar wrap from this place in DC on M street called best sandwich shop. They put banana peppers in it, which seemed to really add somethimg to it

C: Filipino breakfast sandwich - pan de sal (it’s a a sweet roll), longanisa (Filipino sausage), and egg

There was one north of Dayton and we'd go there sometimes if we were up that way for something. I always got the Monte Cristo.

Chick Fil'a original chicken sandwich with pickle, no sauces. (sometimes I get it naked)

Kneaders - classic turkey with lettuce and tomato only. They use "real" turkey carved from the bird.

My neighbor brings me half a baguette sometimes. That, with a slice of ham and a good cheese (havarti, white, sharp chedder). Again, no sauces.

I remember those—a strange yet tasty sandwich. There is a chain restaurant here that sells them called Cheddars Scratch Kitchen. I have not tried one there.

Not grilled cheese, although an easy favorite for a lot of people. More accurately, broiled cheese toast. I too like it very much with very sharp cheddar.

I make grilled cheese on a Forman sandwich grill, really just a small press. I can put butter on the outside of the bread, or not, as I like.

And I love some tomato in my grilled cheese - raw, not cooked, but it does cook up a bit on the grill.
