What song are you listening to?

And another musician has left us far too soon. Piotr Grudzinski, guitarist for the Polish prog rock band, Riverside, has died at the age of 40. :(
This year is brutal for the music world and we are only two months into it.

I was about to buy some Led Zeppelin, because i listen to them all the time el cheapo style and that goes against my "if you listen to it often then buy it" rule, and I thought of looking for a better quality sound than what itunes sells. Where do you buy your digital music if you want top quality?

Shalamar - I Can Make You Feel Good

I loved Shalamar and loved Jody Watley even more. So I was surprised to hear this on the "Party Hits" digital radio channel I've been listening to. I had never heard it before, but it has such a nice gentle groove to it. It did hit the top ten in the U.K. but barely made the US Top 40 R & B charts (and didn't make the Billboard Hot 100). I love discovering treasures that should have been much bigger hits than they were. :D

Earlier, I found several 45 records of the Atlanta Rhythm Section. One in particular that I always played was Spooky

I was surprised that the record wasn't worn out since I used to listen to it all the time. :)

I have been listening to adult R&B and smooth jazz alot lately.

Sade - The Best of CD. No ordinary love, cherish the day and Never as good as the First time. They never get old.

Also, I have been listening to Lalah Hathaway's most recent live CD. To those unfamiliar with her music, Lalah Hathaway is the daughter of late soul singer Donnie Hathaway. Her voice is majestic. Here are some of her songs, Angel, A song for you,

PBS is running Ed Sullivan clips the featured popular musicals of the day. I just saw Richard Burton and Julie Andrews in "Camelot." Of course Andrews voice is to die for but Burton in both song and spoken word had such a wonderful voice. The song was "What Do The Simple Folk Do?"

^ ah, my favorite song from "Camelot" (my all time favorite musical - Broadway Cast Recording only, not the movie version)!

Simone, we're going to see the National tour production of "Beautiful" later this month (local subscription). Can't wait! Our Philly Pops did a fabulous Tribute to Carole King concert a few weeks ago. Tomorrow our next Philly Pops concert will be a tribute to Billy Joel, and Michael Cavanaugh (who performed on Broadway in "Movin' Out") will perform in the concert! That should be amazing too!
