What song are you listening to?

'The Winner Takes It All' by the Mantovani Orchestra.
Must be something I've heard over and over in the current political reportage.
Well...at least the musical rendering is lovely. :violin::violin:

Haven't been able to get out too much the past couple of days due to the horrific weather. So, I went through a whole lot of 45 records today. I found several by Bill Withers. I've always loved his voice, and how he sings. That low sexy voice is what made him so popular back in the 70's and 80's.

PBS is running Ed Sullivan clips the featured popular musicals of the day. I just saw Richard Burton and Julie Andrews in "Camelot." Of course Andrews voice is to die for but Burton in both song and spoken word had such a wonderful voice. The song was "What Do The Simple Folk Do?"
I grew up with Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music but it wasn't until I watched Victor/Victoria and heard Julia Andrews sing Le Jazz Hot that I realised just how good her voice was. I've acquired more of her music since then.

I've been semi-obsessively listening to the new song from The Kills - Doing it to Death since I heard it last week. I was almost disappointed to find the album doesn't come out until June. I really want to hear the rest of it now.

Isn't Julie amazing? Check out the studio CD recording of "The King & I" that was aired on PBS in the early 1990's, before Julie underwent vocal cord surgery. She was excellent as Mrs. Anna, too.

Currently listening to "The Piano Guys Live" CD. :encore:

Totally love Julie Andrews. When my great nieces come to visit, they always want to watch The Sound of Music. It doesn't matter if they have to leave soon or not. They'll still pop in the DVD. They also sing along with Julie Andrews while she's singing The Sound of Music.

Well, I felt like listening to the very talented Bonnie Raitt today. One of my old friends that has a band had the honor of performing and singing with her several years ago at the New Orleans Jazz Festival. Bonnie will be performing this year, also, at the Jazz Festival.

The lineup to sing there is phenomenal - Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Steely Dan, Buckwheat Zydeco, Van Morrison, Nick Jonas and the list goes on and on!

Anyway, it made me think of Bonnie today and I'm listening to one of my favorite albums of hers.

Because I heard it on the radio like a dozen times over the weekend (and people on FSU know eevveerryytthhiinngg) :P ... is that song "History" by One Direction a remake, or is that a brand new song? It sounds sssoooo familiar, like I've heard it and knew all the words when it was the first time I had heard it.

Had this song on my mind earlier and listened to it about 3 times already. The first time I heard it was during the beginning of the old Roswell series. The woman can definitely sing.

Here With Me by Dido (Theme from Roswell).

Just heard Silver, Blue and Gold by Bad Company on the Classic Rock t.v. station. Haven't heard that song for years!

Good thing I got in here yesterday. I dusted bookshelves clear through Breakfast with the Beatles.

Nothin' but a Good Time is on that radio station right now..........

Two of Us - Beatles. Paul had said it was about himself and Linda, but I prefer to believe it was about himself and John!!!!

As an aside - the #1 song this week in 1974 was Dark Lady by Cher. Hm. #2 was Seasons in the Sun (music when we were young thread...) I still have that 45. Song #36 was WOLDdddddd :-) by Harry Chapin. It wasn't a hit like Cats in the Cradle or Taxi, but I loved it.

Am I the only person posting on here? (every Sunday morning - the only time I listen to anything while on the computer)

I Am the Walrus - Beatles

(early because I turned off American top 40 the 70's because it was one of the disco years) my hands are too cold and stiff to type capitals and punctuation...............

I've been in a mood for some Rolling Stones music today. Then I came across an old 45 record that my high school boyfriend (my first love), Mark, gave me in 1973 when the song first came out. That was my freshman year in high school. Mark and I remained together until after we graduated from high school. We're still very close friends, stay in touch with each other, and we're friends on Facebook.

He'll always have a special place in my heart. <3
