What song are you listening to?

I've been listening to my Carly Simon collection (of albums, not CD's) when I came across Playing Possum - 1975. One of my favorite songs on that album is Waterfall. She's accompanied on vocals with James Taylor. I like the the song because it's easy, soothing and fun to listen to.

Waterfall - by Carly Simon with James Taylor, Clydie King, and Rita Coolidge

Funny (not) - listening to American Top 40 - the 70's. 1973. The Carpenters Yesterday Once More. She's singing about 50's songs, and I'm listening to that song from 48 years ago feeling the same way.

Next playing - Smoke on the Water. I still have that album.

What about Robertino Loreti? Was he famous in your country? :)

Amother song by my favorite child prodigy Yaroslava Degtyareva. I had heard this song sung by an adult singer earlier.

The song is

Zvenit Yanvarskaya v'yuga...

The meaning is January Blizzard.

Yaroslava is a wonderful singer :)
Her performance of this song was amazingly good even when she was a small child
This song is about love and those issues which adult people know:
“People don’t see each other,
Pass by each other,
People lose each other
And they never will find each other again, never!”

Her Kukushka when she was just 7 years old is my favorite. She was an adorable small child. Just two years later she was singing very mature songs.

Yes, it is the same year. On the video which I posted she is 7 years old too. She sang “Zvenit Yanvarskaya v'yuga” in that age. I think both mentioned songs are mature. Maybe not too “mature” for a teenager, but I think they are not simple for a child who is 7 years old :)

I've been listening to my 45's of Kenny Rogers this morning. One of my favorite songs is a classic. I had the pleasure of hearing him sing it live at one of his concerts in the 80's

Last weekend John Williams conducted some of his music at the Hollywood Bowl. One of the selections was the fanfare he wrote for the 1984 Olympics and the performance included a video montage of athletes from recent Olympics. I'm sure most people here will recognize the figure skaters.
