Amber’s recent story says flight delayed six hours, then flight canceled, sorry Hershey. It can’t be because of weather. I wonder what happened..

Oh wait a second does the East Coast have Weather?
Storms moved through earlier (I'm a bit south of Hershey). I believe it's still storming up in NY/New England. Depending on where the plane was coming from, there could be massive delays. They should be able to fly out tomorrow, forecast is sunny and dry.

If they were at the universal lot, they would’ve flown out of LAX and the weather is fine in SoCal.

As Karen said, they were flying from Minn. Regardless of the weather there, if there are weather problems where you are flying or where the plane you are flying is coming from, that can result in delays.

Maybe they should have hired a bus. Amber says that, over nine hours later, they are still at the airport:

At least Alysa and Isabeau appear to have had fun with C&B in Minneapolis:

I've been following all the Instagram posting during the various legs of the SOI tour, and it's been great to see that Isabeau, Amber, and Alysa all seem to have so much fun on and off the ice.

No, the weather was not fine in coastal SoCal yesterday. A small plane actually crashed into my neighborhood in San Diego because of low visibility. Most of coastal SoCal had terrible visibility yesterday because of fog covering, which is typical here in May and June. Many homes and cars burned.

For those commenting on airport delays, please check for ground stops at the airport of origin, along the route, and at all airports within the divert zone of the destination. “It was fine here” doesn’t mean anything. It was hard to fly into the Northeast yesterday, regardless of the direction of the approach.

If they flew out of LA was clear sunny skies, didn’t San Diego incident happened at three in the morning? I try to get some news on that, I got conflicting stories. One story, said the plane clipped a powerline? Sorry for those people and your neighborhood, sad.

According to Amber’s next story, the delay happened in Minneapolis, Saint Paul.

They're flying out of the Twin Cities - they had a show in Minneapolis last night.
I flew out of Minneapolis Thursday mid-morning, and we were held on the ground at MSP for 40 minutes due to an ATC hold. Weather was fine there and fine throughout the flight to Denver, but apparently it was bad to the east and south.

Sorry I didn't see any of the SOI contingent!

Heh. Amber joked about becoming an ice dancer with Isabeau. But maybe it's Alysa and Isabeau. :D

Isabeau seems to prefer the dancing to the pairs lift. (Turn on the sound for number 8):

Cross-posted on The Good News Thread. Mariah Bell moved to LA and I wondered if she was working on the LA Olympics Planning Team. But it appears to be Brandon! Happy for her!

Well, yes, she is working for LA2028 - that was the purpose of her move and it happened months ago. The Brandon relationship appears to be something that developed as a result of the move.

Sherry Zhang performed her SP today at the 2025 All Year Open - music is "East of Eden". Looks like it was just an exhibition as she's not listed in the results. Looks like they created a special category for her "International Junior Women" which... Is a choice, especially since there were a few women on the ISP competing in the regular junior women category including Annika Chao.

Since Sherry has competed senior in qualifying competitions, including nationals, I don’t think she’s allowed to compete in the normal junior category. I assume she’s competing junior here to test out her programs for the JGP.

I remember we saw the same thing for Josephine Lee 2 years ago.

Has Sherry Zhang always been a flutzer? Good for the panel for giving it a !, but it probably deserved an "e." She looks like she's pitching forward (a la Levito) and changing edge to get momentum. I don't remember her lutz looking like this in the past. I thought the combo was underrotated as well and probably deserved more like -3 or -4 compared to the 0/-1 it got.

Her double axel was a beauty, though, and deserved all the GOE! I like the change of edge spiral. The program was derivative, but in the best way. She's a good enough skater to imitate Kwan.

She has the backing of USFSA but she needs to develop much more for me to take much of an interest. Her program looks like she is always on 1.25x speed.

What happened to Ava Marie Zeigler? Is she still skating? She showed a lot of promise a couple of years ago.
It was reported (by Dave Lease so take it for what it's worth) that she had to have surgery to address an injury (I don't think it was ever said which body part) and that's why she WD from Nats. Hopefully, she has recovered and can get back to skating. I don't think she is in the ISP currently but could be added after a good performance at a summer comp. To compete at Nats, she would have to compete in at least 1 NQS comp this summer to qualify for Easterns.

With the Grand Prix slots out, the top six U.S. are all guaranteed two assignments: Alysa, Amber, Isabeau, Sarah, Bradie, and Elyce. There are two spots remaining and it will be interesting to see who is assigned. Josephine Lee is eligible for seniors this season alongside Mia Kalin. It will be interesting to see if either of them go senior internationally. Others include a healthy Ava and Starr.
