Anyone recognize the song that Camden is skating to in this IG story?

The leaderboard page for the Junior Cup is live. It kicks off tomorrow at 11:15 Central Time.

Are there any free options to watch? There's a $10 PPV (per day) from the official videographer. It doesn't really seem worth paying for though since there will be no music.

WARNING: don't pay evening of this post (Monday). Pay day of competition(s).

Given the USFS' new music policy, I wouldn't bother with paying for any stream since they'll have to mute the music.

Jr Men invited to compete for the SIX JGP spots the USA has - I'm sorting them into groups - strong contenders, possible contenders, unlikely contenders (2024 Nats placement as well as any 2023-24 Jr Int'l Assignments - excluding Cranberry & Kings Cup Int'ls)

Jacob Sanchez (2024 WYOG-4 - skipped US Nats, JGP Budapest-5, JGP Bangkok-4, JWC-10)
Lucius Kazanecki (J1)
Nicholas Brooks (J5)
Lorenzo Elano (J6)
Kai Kovar (S11, JGP Ostrava-6, JGP Istanbul-9)
Taira Shinohara (J2, Bavarian Open J1)
Kirk Haugeto (J7)
Aleksandr Fegan (J3, JGP Yerevan-4)

Sergei Evseev (J8)
Vaclav Vasquez (J9)
Jared Sedlis (J10)
Caleb Farrington (J11)
Nhat-Viet Nguyen (n/a)
Patrick Blackwell (n/a)
Zachary LoPinto (n/a)

Louis Mallane (n/a)
Marlo Rosen (J14)
Ryedin Rudedenman (J16)
Alex Tankovic (J17)
Alvin Luu (J18)
Ryan William Azadpour (J19)

Looking over the Nats results - notable missing athletes - Daniel Martynov - this would seem to confirm he's moving to seniors only this season.

What about Daniel Martynov? Will he be competing as a senior internationally this season?

I am curious to see how Patrick Blackwell will skate. He did not compete last season due to an injury, but he has 2 quads and 3A and jumps like 4T-3A in practice.

Isn't he training in France right now? Maybe he just didn't want to take the flight for this? He's been skating JGPs since 2019, he's probably going senior. But if that were the case, you'd think he'd be making his SkAm case at this event?
No, he would not. He would be competing senior at Cranberry Cup if he wants to be considered for the SkAm TBD spot.

Good point. I hadn't thought about that with CC and SkAm nearly being on top of each other (just a week apart), but it's not like he'd be flying half way around the world and getting jet lag -- it's just half way across the US.

Uhm... Cranberry Cup is next month - a good 2.5 months before SkAm.

Bloomberg donated $1 billion to his alma mater, Johns Hopkins Univ, which basically allows most medical school students to attend the school tuition-free 😳 and supports many students for their living expenses as well.

You can see Joon Soo Kim (2nd year for medical school) speaking graciously about this gift.

I'm wondering if Nathan may take this into account when considering which medical school to attend.

Reported three days ago. Chances are that Nathan does not qualify for financial aid as he is worth between $5 and $6 million. The annual income threshold is $300K

Where did you get the information that he is worth 5-6 million?
I'm not doubting it but I am curious.

...

As a fan of Joonsoo 🫶, I loved seeing/hearing him as one of the student voices in the Hopkins video about Bloomberg's gift.
Yuki, I am grateful to you for bringing the video to my attention!

(Does not matter one bit that I already was aware of the general good news of Bloomberg's gift.
It was the Joonsoo part that made your post special and valuable. 🤗)

Tommy Steenberg's IGS is showing short clips of Taira and Lorenzo's performance at the Junior Cup with music now. Can someone identity the music?

Shazam ID'ed Lorenzo's music as Mad Rush by Philip Glass. Thanks for posting. That looks wonderful! Hopefully I can see him skate with music somehow this season

Taira’s music is “Ain’t No Sunshine.”

Thanks, guys! I tried my Shazam app several times but it did not find what the music was.

Goku Endo is entered in senior men at U.S. Collegiates this week.

And ... Joonsoo Kim too, per Los Angeles FSC.

Joonsoo competed about two months ago (FS only at a small event), for the first time since U.S. Nats in Jan 2023.
He last competed at U.S. Collegiates in 2021 -- received his undergrad degree from UCLA in 2021. (He also was a co-president of UCLA's intercollegiate skating team.)

ETA:

Full U.S. Collegiates starting order for senior men:
(1) Will Annis, Boston U; (2) Joonsoo Kim, Johns Hopkins; (3) Philip Baker, Boston U; (4) Ian Kang, Penn State; (5) Goku Endo, UCLA; (6) Gabriel Martinez, U Illinois-Chicago; (7) Joe Klein, Northwestern

Quintuple jumps (except for quint axel) have been added to ISU Scale of Values as of July 1, 2024.
Base value is 14.00 for 5T, 5S, 5Lo, 5F, and 5Lz.

And the Remarks section on page 12 has a subsection for "Clarifications on quint jumps."
Quint jumps are not permitted in Short Program.
Quint jumps "in the Free Skating are only possible as individual jumps, but NOT as part of a jump combination or jump sequence." (emphasis in original)
Plus there is a paragraph about "Repetition of quint jumps in Free Skating."

Good to know they had the time for this and had no concern about suddenly introducing this to the scale and allowing an attempt in the free skate when all of one person in the world has been training a quint, but not for changing the rules to make the jumps and spins fewer
