They Call the Wind Maria - from "Paint Your Wagon"

Because of how the name is actually pronounced, I always want to spell it with an H. Good luck to Mariah Bell in Helsinki!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRot6PjVEgE Pernell Roberts sings They Call the Wind Maria(h)
I didn't realize that Pernell Roberts was a well-trained theater actor and a singer who chafed at the 'adolescent' story lines on the Bonanza television series, which he felt were lacking in 'truth' and 'reality.' Born in Georgia, Roberts was an only child named after his father. His mother, Betty, interviewed in 1962, said she missed him so much but was glad to be able to watch him on television every Sunday night. Roberts left Bonanza in 1965, but he had been open to continue appearing on a part-time basis as long as he could pursue other acting projects in the theater (his first love).

Roberts was disappointed in Bonanza, because of the limitations of the show's scripts and characterizations: "I haven't grown at all since the series began... I have an impotent role..." He also criticized the show's "simple-minded content and lack of minority actors..." OTOH, Roberts loved his co-stars on Bonanza, and he enjoyed watching old episodes of Bonanza in his later years, just to revisit the friends he had outlived. He used to jokingly refer to himself as, Pernell 'the last one' Roberts. Bonanza producer, David Dortort later said he regretted not having Roberts continue on the show as a semi-regular, and insisting that his character, Adam, get married: "I must confess. I was too hard on [Pernell Roberts]. I did not appreciate him. I knew he was good, but I didn't realize he was that good... none better." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pernell_Roberts

Love Faces -- Trey Songz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzhKarW3ylo

The first time ever I saw your face - Roberta Flack

(Can we please stick with the format and not add long comments after the song, to keep this simple?)

^^ Yep, @Vash01 Watcha Gonna Do About It?! I'm just trying to make things more interesting. My additional references and comments occur because it's inevitable to make all these various connections. That's what we're doing after all. Making connections between songs which brings up a whole lotta memories, personal and cultural. Not to mention figure skating-related. But, oh well. Forgive me. :shuffle: Simplicity is golden.

That's Why I'm Here - James Taylor

aftershocks, a little skating aside - I think Brian Boitano skated to "They Call the Wind Maria" in part of his "Shenandoah" program. :encore:
