These Are Fun Questions For Kurt Browning

Last weekend, before the Hamilton Stars on Ice show, Kurt generously spent some time with me and my co-conspirators, recording a fun video interview for the Kurt Files. In part 1, he talks about partying in Barbados as "Paul Wylie," what audiences don't know about Elvis Stojko, and which of his own programs Yuzu would "nail."

Part 2 still to come, sometime next week!

Thanks so much to my friend Sharilyn, without whom this wouldn't have even happened. Everything video production related was all her!

Ah, I love Kurt! He's so funny, and so talented.

Thanks Kurt, for the memories: :encore:

Here's a clearer video of Brick House!

Which male skater today could skate to Brick House convincingly?

My picks: Elladj Balde; Jason Brown; Alexander Johnson; Nicolas Nadeau
and a version with Russian flavor: Mikhail Kolyada :watch:

Oh, and I'd lurve to see a pairs version of Brick House by James/Cipres :kickass: :cheer2:

ETA:
 I see Kurt was asked a similar question to which he answered Yuzu Hanyu skating to Brick House. Uh, def not the first skater who'd come to my mind to 'nail it.' That would be like a Japanese outer space version of Brick House. OTOH, I can see Yalie Nathan Chen nailing an edgy, contemporary, updated version of Brick House!

Not sure whether to feel praised or blamed. ;)

Praised, of course! It would have been shot on an iPhone, probably in portrait mode, handheld, with no real editing, without you!

To be fair, he thought it'd be interesting to see Yuzu do something of his since they're so different, and then was having a hard time thinking what. And then pulled Brick House out. If he had been specifically asked who would do a great job to Brick House, he might have had a different answer! Who knows?

It's sad to me that so many of Kurt's great programs can't be seen because of music copyright issues on YouTube.
Though, for now, you actually can check out Nyah here (13:01 mark)! https://youtu.be/Gmrwcj1Fh80?t=781

ETA: And, here's Kurt trying to get other guys to skate to Brick House ;)

Right sure. I'm glad you clarified. I thought everyone looking at the video would get that it wasn't the same question I had randomly posed and answered. ;) That's why I said Kurt responded to 'a similar question...' But your clarification definitely helps. Sorry for anyone having been misled by my comments.

I was still viewing the latter part of the video when I posted my initial message. I was surprised to see that you asked Kurt a similar question about skaters today who might be able to perform one of his programs, and then the Brick House performance came up. :)

Oh I doubt you misled anyone. I just don't assume that everyone actually clicks through and watches the video (though I hope they do!).

I encourage everyone to watch through to (at least) the second-to-last answer. Even after spending hours editing it, that part's gonna be on heavy rotation in my playlist. (It's my fault the camera was shaking from laughter, sorrynotsorry.)

Just FYI, I've now updated all the closed captioning on both videos. So if you need subtitles, English isn't your first language, like to watch without the sound on, or, like me, just like having the extra help of subtitles, there they are.

I have to say, I'm glad I corrected them, but I was very amused that the auto-generated subtitles on YouTube translated "Josee Chouinard" into "Asian fire art" and "Elvis Stojko, you know" into "Other Stoic Boats".
