No Shawn makes me sad too, and I'd much rather have him than Elvis , personally, but I can't deny that Elvis gets a tremendous reception when he steps onto the ice. Bigger name recognition.

Took me a while, but I got my photos from both the Toronto and Hamilton shows up. Got quite a few...

The Hamilton show photos also have some bonus warm up shots of Kurt and Donald Jackson, as well as retake photos.

I don't really think the promoters were thinking of Elvis as a replacement for Shawn; I think they were thinking of Elvis as a replacement for Kurt not being on the whole tour. They needed another old-school headline name that only Elvis could give them. Obviously, I personally think it's crazy to think of anyone being a replacement for Kurt, especially in CSOI where he has contributed so vastly over the years and has always, IMO, been the leader of the tour, but my guess was that no one was thinking of Stojko as a swap for Sawyer as he still gets more name recognition than Buttle and probably even Patrick Chan.

They also brought in Javier this year. It seems to me inviting Elvis worked for the tour, since the reports mention more attendance this year.

I just got home from the Victoria show, the last in the CSOI tour. I went with my daughter (45) and grandsons (13 & 11) I will just make some random observations.
There were very few falls or flubs. Everyone seems to be at their best for this final show.

First and foremost, I missed Kurt. I know he is cutting back on his involvement but he is the heart of CSOI. When the screen showed Kurt's version of Sounds of Silence I teared up. The guys were very good, but no one else is Kurt.
I also missed Shawn and his creativity. Sorry Elvis, you are not an adequate replacement for either of them. Previous reviewers have said this already. My daughter called Elvis "the old guy". I didn't have the heart to tell her he was a year younger than her.
It was worth the price of admission to see Jeff's smile again. I have always had a soft spot for him, especially since I was in the building when he won his world gold medal in 2008. His choreography is brilliant.

Daughter was a bit reluctant to attend because in the past CSOI has had some cheesy moments that would make you squirm. Not this time. It showcased the altheticism and musicality of the skaters. Daughter enjoyed it very much. Grandsons are dancers and performers and they were able to appreciate the performance aspect of the show, as well as the tricks. Oldest one liked Joannie best! Younger one liked "the little lady" AKA Meghan!

I would like to be able to rewatch the video of the cast recording their world medals.

I think the group number at the opening of the second act, Rhapsody in Blue, was my favourite. It was spell-binding. Individual performances I liked best were Tessa and Scott, Patrick, Joannie and Javi.

All in all I was very happy I went, and happy my family members enjoyed it, too. It was good to share my passion with them for an evening.

I didn't realize Stojko was in place of Sawyer. I though Sawyer might have been injured.

Idiots.

I would've prefered to see Sawyer over Chan. I like Patrick well enough, but I think of him as more of a competition skater rather than a show skater.

Completely disagree, personally. Patrick's range of movement is amazing. I would pay money just to see him stroke across the ice.

I was never a big Sawyer fan, though. I probably would have preferred him to Elvis (just given Elvis's limitations both as a show skater and because of his age/not having skated constantly for awhile), but between them, it's neither here nor there to me.

I did not like Stojko in eligible competition at all, but have always thought that he was really great at the Disney show "Kwan skates to Disney´s best hits". Actually, I think he was much, much better than Kwan there in solo and ensemble skating.
