The Voice - Fall 2015

Great it looks like another week with Korin....
:(
Evan was clearly better than Korin last night and tonight. Heck, he's even better than Blake's team. Why couldn't someone from Blake's team be in the bottom 2??? Oh yeah. That's right. The audience are voting for Blake, not who's the best singer. I think Korin was saved b/c she was saved by Adam's fans. That was a smart strategy to sing a song from one of the coaches, so that their fans can vote for you. Cuz you know that the coach will persuade the audience to vote for him/her just b/c he/she sang their song. Did you see that Gwen was surprised the last two weeks when Korin was saved? She even thinks Evan and Mark are better than Korin. I guess the lesson is: Don't sing old skool R&B for the twitter save. That is the kiss of death.

Barrett's was my least favorite performance this week. By far.
Same for me. If he were to land in the bottom two (not likely) with Korin next week, I would for once be :cheer2: that Korin got the Twitter save.

ETA: Yesterday I watched the YouTube of Emily Ann's performance and actually enjoyed it. So very much better than her awful rendition of "The Garden." And I was quite happy to see that Madi made it through on votes. And thank god, so did Shelby, after Carson's big screw-up with mistakenly announcing that the next one safe was from Adam's team -- when Shelby was the only one left from Team Adam. Talk about awkward -- and there must have been a few stomach churning minutes for Shelby until she was finally announced as voted through.

I had trouble deciding who was the worst - Barrett, Zach, Korin, Braiden, or Amy. Re Amy - I hate that whispering little voice plus every song sounds alike. I guess I'm missing something since her iTunes sales are good. But I think I agree with you, Barrett wins the prize for worst.

Mumbles is the worst for me, followed by Braiden. Both can go soon, please.

This is, IMO, the weakest season of the The Voice so far. The contestants are a weak group, the coaches are weak in terms of ridiculous comments and picking weak singers and weak songs. The show is backing the wrong horse and doing a poor job of explaining what is so special about Jordin. I didn't even watch last night, and I don't think I can make it through the rest of the season.

I TiVo it and don't start looking at it until close to the end of the show. I give each singer a verse, then fast forward if it's not my cuppa. I "watched" Monday's show in about 15 minutes.

Me too! I once watched a 2 hr show in 9 minutes (think I was especially cranky that night). :D

It was a pretty good show tonight. Almost everyone did a good job. I liked Shelby, Madi, Jeffrey, & Jordan. I didn't really like Girls Just Want to Have Fun slowed down like that but her voice was gorgeous. Zach was entertaining although he's no Freddy Mercury, but then he wasn't trying to be. (He was trying to be Elvis.) Emily Ann has a good voice but she shouldn't sing Patsy Cline unless she wants to be compared. Did anyone else feel like she was rushing the lyrics? I'm not an Amy fan so I thought she was just ok. And I FF'd thru Korin, Braiden, & Barrett so I hope one of them will be eliminated tomorrow.

I liked Jeffery, but I'm not sure it will help him that he chose a song people don't know and went early on. I also really like Madi, though I don't think she's likely to make it to the finale.

I liked Dorothy the most tonight.. I'm looking forward to The Wiz!

I'm still not drinking the Jordan Kool-Aid. Adam says that Jordan is one of the best singers in the world. I think it would be fun -- but mean -- to make the coaches wear lie detectors when commenting on the singers. I know Hallelujah is an automatic vote getter, but I've heard a number of versions of that song that were better than Jordan's. I really don't think Jordan has learned how to genuinely emote with his singing. And I don't like his tone that much. But, the fact that the coaches can find a way to rave about Braiden's performance is even more impressive. Surely he's going home this week?

Zach seems to be trying to out-cheese himself every week. I feel bad for him because this isn't going to get him a job as a lounge singer in Vegas and I doubt that's the career he'd want anyway.

How weird is it to see Blake standing and clapping while Gwen sings about how much she hates Gavin?

All I could picture during Zach's performance was him in a high school production of Grease, climbing on the car singing Greased Lightning.

Braiden was so bad I don't even have words. The impact of Radioactive comes from the menacing undertones and he is as menacing as a squirrel.

iTunes this morning:

#2 Jordan
#3 Barrett
#4 Madi
#5 Emily Ann
#7 Jeffrey
#9 Amy
#10 Shelby
#21 Zach
#31 Korin

So Braiden is the only one who didn't chart. I hope he's the one going home. BTW I can't believe so many people wanted yet another version of Hallelujah. It was good but it was far from the best one.

I agree that last night's show was pretty good -- I enjoyed most of the performances, and even found "Mumbles" Barrett tolerable . While Emily Ann was singing I kept thinking "you're no Patsy Cline" -- not that she's trying to be, but her cover of that iconic song of Patsy's didn't compare well -- and I couldn't help comparing it, as I've listened to my Patsy Cline recordings many, many times.

I don't know how good a predictor of voting iTunes numbers are, but Jordan, Madi, Emily Ann, Jeffery, Amy, and Shelby all made the Top 10 in that order -- Barrett ranked #3, between Jordan and Madi. Zach was #21 and Korin #31 and I couldn't find Braiden anywhere on the Top 100 listing, so perhaps he will be in the bottom 2 with Korin tonight. I can't believe that so many people apparently really like Barrett's singing -- last night was his best, but he is far from my favorite. I suppose that means that he is guaranteed to make the finals. :(

eta: @taf2002: You beat me to the iTunes info -- I shouldn't have been so wordy!

What I noticed about Emily Ann's song (didn't know it, I am not a country fan) is that it was such a simple song and therefore very very easy to sing. And why oh why does this entire cast ignore the rhythm of songs and focus only on melody? Yes, if you focus on the rhythm and get even a little off it's obvious, but so many songs become snoozers without their rhythms.

My husband and I both find Madi intriguing and were trying to think of what we'd like to hear her sing... we both came up with 70s folk-rock: James Taylor, Jackson Browne, maybe the Eagles. Her tone would just shine in those songs.

Patsy Cline's "She's Got You" was a big cross-over hit way back in the day -- not just on country charts. Not sure when/how I first heard it sometime in the 1970's I think, but I wasn't a country music fan then (still am not really -- I don't like much/most of the new country stuff).

I just caught up. Jeffrey & Madi were my favorites. I didn't have to fast forward through Zack and Mumbles which is a first, I think. Korin was ok, but that's a huge step from the last couple of weeks.

How many are the ditching next week? A final isn't much of a final with 8 people in it.

I generally like Madi but she was turning one of my favorite '80s songs into a dirge so I turned it off and went to bed. I did like Jordan's Hallelujah and Amy's version of NSync was brilliant, I thought. I still like Shelby's voice if not her material. Everyone else was meh.

IIRC there have been 4 finalists. I haven't followed each season closely enough to know for sure how many are eliminated each week.

Next week 9 will sing, then on Tues 5 will go home & 4 will move on to the finale.

I don't particularly care who goes home between Korin and Braiden, but I'm weary of Gwen proclaiming that Korin deserves to be her.

Korin is finally gone. Amen. I'm surprised that the twitter save results are very close, even after that great debacle from Korin. That's what you get for stealing a spot from Viktor. Either she got lots of sympathy votes or the audience actually thought she sang better than Braiden. I'm assuming she would've won if she didn't have a meltdown. It doesn't matter, she won't make it to the finale. I wonder who Gwen voted for??

The results were close because Korin has been halfway decent most of the season & Braiden hasn't. Last night he did his best & Korin didn't but as usual his song selection was ridiculous & totally unsuited to a 15 yr old boy who looks 12.

I liked Jeffrey and Madi too. And Jordan showed remarkable restraint with Hallelujah because he could have made it a real falsetto fest. He showed maturity in his interpretation.

True. Except do any of us really need to hear Hallelujah ever again? His choices are getting too predictable.

Mumbles up first with Ghost. :scream: Hearing the judges comment make me feel like I'm watching a different show. Did anyone like him tonight?
