The Dance Hall 8: Join the Maskerade 2020-2021

I know she is Canadian but she has kids as Scott had said at the beginning of c***** he looked after them while she worked in healthcare. So you cannot just take kids to another country without legalities to settle with the father.
Have never heard him say that so it's news to me. Have only ever heard him speak of her. Are her children like Tessa's children?

I have never heard him say this either. Where did you hear that?

I only heard it mentioned the once and I believe it was through a link to an interview quite a while ago. It only stuck in my mind as I have family(inlaws) where a nephew had a child with a girlfriend who came up here to live with him. When they broke up she ret'd to the states, baby stayed with Dad & his parents but the visitation was tricky and now that he is in school even trickier.

Scott mentioned yesterday that he and Jackie are now living together in Canada, and didn't mention any kids. Perhaps you misheard?

You misheard. She has no kids.

During the interview with H/Donahue at US nationals, I recall Zach crediting Scott with imparting some helpful words of wisdom or something that changed his mindset. Scott has an amazing amount of experience - all the best to him in this fresh endeavour.

Reposting this from the dance rules thread. I think it has the potential to make big impacts on the Oly programs.

ISU Communication 2371 (03 February 2021) - Ice Dance Requirements for Technical Rules season 2021/22
A little late to this, but there’s a big change to the free dances. The character step sequence is now optional. Dancers can now choose any 3 of the choreographic elements. I think this is a big improvement. Most of the character step sequences are terrible, and they tended to force certain types of program construction involving a pause and a dramatic music change.

I wonder if there is a connection between IAM saying they have exciting news and Scott Moir recently saying in an interview about opening an Elite dance school in the London area. IAM has said last year that they wanted to help others open up schools elsewhere and I guess be affiliated with them.

And to really speculate C/P could train there with Scott (and whoever else will be coaching with him along with help from IAM?). It's only a 2.5 hour drive from where they are currently to London so close enough they can pop back and forth on weekends etc.. to keep her US residency in tact. :p

Obviously this is pure speculation, just wanted to throw in this option so stake my claim to it
I just wanted to be a child for a moment to say I called it first ;)

Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko are going to IAM and Scott.

Kazakova/Reviya are not included in the 2021 Worlds entry list of 33 teams that was published today (so I assume they do not feel ready to compete this season: http://www.isuresults.com/events/wc2021_IceDance.htm

@Braulio posted this news in the Kiss & Cry section earlier today:
Spanish Ice Sports Federation have published moments ago an official communication saying that the spot for the World Championships is NOT YET ASSIGNED.

A 'Skate Off' that will be held online under ISU regulations for this kind of situation, both couples will perform their rhythm and free dance programs that will be recorded by the Federation, submit to judges evaluation and then come up with the result.

The outcome will be published next monday march 8

Without P/C there, I have more hope that whoever goes to Worlds for Spain will be able to get them the two spots for Beijing - assuming in the top 10 is 3xRussia, 3xUS, 2x Canada, 1xItaly - that leaves the final spot to be battled between F/G, La/La and the Spanish team. As much as a top 10 finish would be great for all 3 teams - Canada should manage to keep 3 spots without La/La, Britain only really needs one spot as Fear/Waddell are less likely to make the FD at the Olympics and honestly, both Spanish teams deserve to go, imo.

I wouldn't count out Wang/Liu for the final spot in the top 10 either. They have a higher personal best (from 2020 4CC) than F/G, L/L and both Spanish teams (And Z/G and H/B as well!), and were on the rise last season with two solid programs. However, I think they've been stuck away from their main coaching team, so that may not help their cause.

I totally agree that both Spanish teams deserve to go to the Olys, so I hope whichever team ends up at Worlds ends up placing in the top 10!

It should be noted that Fear/Gibson beat Zahorski/Guerreiro at Euros last season (and pretty consistently outscored them throughout that season, though of course you can't directly compare scores from different events). Now, given that Z/G have had something approximating a normal season and F/G haven't, it's entirely plausible that things will be different in Stockholm, but it's not a sure thing that the Russian #3 will place ahead of the British.

Yeah, I see it more as the top six are likely H/D, C/B, G/P, S/K, S/B and G/F in some order, then I'd have H/B and FB/S around 7-8 probably (not guaranteed, but I think they'll be top ten at least). Then F/G, W/L, Spain, L/L and Z/G battling for 9-10. Hard to predict their order without having seen most of them much this season.

I think Spain is most deserving of a second spot compared to China and Great Britain, so I hope they get it, but we'll see.

Which L/L are we talking about? The French L/L won't be there but the Canadian L/L will. I don't see either of them as battling for the 9-10 spot, though, so I guess it doesn't matter, lol.

Don't forget there are the Poles who always seem to place higher than anyone else believes they should. FSU will lose its collective mind if they beat any of the following: FB/S, H/B, F/G, Spain, Z/G, and probably also W/L and L/L.

Hard to say how the others will stack up.

My scenario for dance could be

1 to 6
RUS1
USA1
USA2
CAN1
RUS2
ITA1

Then from 7 to 9
CAN2 (Though lack of competition, Nikolaj injury, surgery, don't know how they will be)
USA3 (Can't see them higher or lower barring a big mistake they are top 10)
GBR1 (We know they sometimes get back in the rhythm dance but storm in the Free with TONS of GOE bonus so...)

For the top 10
RUS3 (By 'political' power and experience could be well in front for the top 10)
ESP1 (New Free Dance with a classic approach, have experience)
POL1 (always score better though few times deserve the high scores)
CHN1 (Have been steadily rising and with the Games in China...)

So, yes I can see Smart/Diaz in the top 10 even a 9th place as high, BUT it will depend on them going clean, clean, clean and other couples (RUS3 and GBR1) to make mistakes.

I will be very disappointed to see a SECOND couple from Britain getting a spot for the Olympics when in reality Spain deserves 2 spots.

I wonder if it will make things a little harder for Chock/Bates and Fear/Gibson that there is no audience. They both have extremely audience-friendly programs.
