The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

She's 17 in August. So she'd be 18 when they had to move up, though she'd have two seasons left of junior eligibility.
The senior teams below S/F have international SBs are 140. F/MP had 133 with lower potential base value.
True..but they are quite a new couple are they not? S/F are also new but have just started to get the marks now. Shane has been cream of the crop for years and I feel he could match most male dancers although he has to watch the height of his partners.

Although on the subject of most promising Canadian junior team behind L/L, I'd say D'Alessandro/Waddell.

I love this team but it is taking a while for them to move up the ranks of Juniors. I am not sure why they have not moved higher yet ( I am no expert so maybe it is valid) and Domestic judges at Nationals in dance were garbage so I have not formed a firm opinion on them. If some experts would like to weigh in on their strengths and weaknesses (nicely) I would be interested to know.

I am really surprised Chock and Bates are moving to Montreal...both that they would choose to go there with the other two US teams already there and that they would be accepted. I can understand C/B wanting to make a change but I would have thought they would have chosen a place where they could be more of a priority. If Igor and Pasquale do team up that may have even provided the change they are looking for.

I think Hawayek and Baker are the ones who should have stayed. They would have been the #1 team with Igor and Pasquale.

D'Allesandro & Waddell have only competed one season in Juniors thus far. They were novice champions two years ago. I enjoyed them this season. Think they need less two-footed skating, but a good start.

For what it's worth, Mallette-Paquette has competed in juniors at least four seasons. Two on the JGP as far as I know, without doing the JGP in 2016-17. I liked Payten best, but F&M-P came along well last year for a relatively new partnership).

What do you mean? Last season was their first of junior eligibility.

I think most teams just want to do something different to improve. Maybe they see what Gadbois has done for their teams and they feel it might help them get better in some ways. Or maybe it is just to get a fresh start and feel motivated again. I think this upcoming season will be exciting because of all these changes.:40beers:

Actually a variety of gifs have been coming to mind with all the announcements/rumors in dance this weekend. I wanted a connected clip of this familiar scene, but the only way I can figure out how to get the full scene is to list several gifs together. (It's faster if you just click on the first one and then hit the right arrow key six times).

What I mean is I have been watching them this season at competitions up to nationals (which yes is their first junior year) and to my non expert eyes they should be placed higher. I am missing why they wouldn't be higher.
I don't think they normally work with Scott by there was a next gen seminar yesterday in Toronto with lots of top coaches and the next gen team. Super great. I hope they keep doing these.

F&M-P teamed up in the fall of 2016 so they had been skating together for almost a year at their first JGP.

Abachkina/Polizoakis??? :D
Might be too close in height.

As for Chock/Bates, I think people have been taking it as confirmed because Zach Donohue liked TSL's tweet saying it was official (apparently) and they figure he would know for sure. He did the same thing when TSL said H/B were officially going. That's the closest thing to official I've seen.

ETA: I checked to confirm. Zach did indeed like the tweet saying "Confirmed: Chock and Bates to Montreal."

Replying from U.S. Ice Dance thread drift:

I've not seen any evidence that W&P asked to go [to Gadbois] and/or were turned down a first time, much less a second.

Ah, so it's just figure skating gossip and rumor pushed by TSL? Dave Lease has surely provided plenty of evidence over the years that he doesn't have a soft spot for W/P.

So, W/P went to Morosov last season because of his creative track record and his good looks? :shuffle:

BTW, what are the sources you trust for the real fs news lowdown, on the up and up of course? ;)

If it is true then it's proof there's no nationalistic bias or focus at Gadbois. It would be unusual though if the big Canadian training centre refused Canadian athletes but instead elected to train all of their foreign competition. Which does make me wonder these rumours are not true because I'm not sure Marie-France and Patrice would so obviously snub Canada like that.

BTW, what are the sources you trust for the real fs news lowdown, on the up and up of course? ;)

Generally speaking, I trust sources that are 1. official and held accountable for their information within their profession, and/or 2. backed up by the skaters and/or coaches who are discussed, and/or 3. have a track record for being correct about a specific camp or group of athletes. I don't trust all of these people all of the time. (Which is good because perfectly legitimate news sources and commentators get their facts wrong all the time--as one notices whenever when one knows very much about at topic). But I do generally find their information more valid.

I don't distrust TSL's insight when they back it up or have close connections. But I haven't noticed any track record of that with their relation to Weaver & Poje. (And I have noticed a history of inaccurate rumors regarding W&P previously on FSU so I'm wary, which seems like it is necessary at the moment considering that this week we've heard contradictory information about where they are supposedly planning to train. Someone is currently wrong. Maybe because they are leaping to conclusions before any decision has been made. But my guess is that we'll get confirmation of a training site relatively soon because . . . someone is currently wrong).

Personally, I think W&P were always good with Camerlengo and would be so again, but my personal opinion has nothing to do with where Weaver & Poje will train this season. I don't think TSL manages to separate their personal opinions from the way they spread news or gossip. (I wasn't at all sure W&P were going to continue competing, as they only stated that they were going to decide on a season by season basis. And I'm still not 100% sure they are planning to compete this season; but all this conflict seems to imply they are looking into it, which is a very good sign to me).

Thanks @Dobre for your informative and sensible response (provided w/o actually revealing any of your anonymous sources). :) My half-teasing query wasn't meant to suggest that I think Dave and TSL are accurate much less responsible in the way they spread gossip, burn sources, and scorch skaters. Dave clearly has often had negative and uncalled for things to say about W/P.

I was mainly asking to get your input and to gain some insight since I haven't heard anything that counters the gossip from last season that W/P made a bid to train in Gadbois, prior to landing with Morosov.
