Oh they'll be paying the price soon enough. She should ask other dancers some tips of how you can live with that kind of bad move between you and medals later on in your career. Bourne can probably tell her some of it. :D:p

And I disagree. Canadian GP usually is as bad as Russia. But looks "less" fixed overall. Still, the Canadian PCS inflation there is outrageous.
 
I don't think Carol Lane's politiking game is strong enough to have her team come out of this without any repercussions. I am also not sure that the Canadian Fed will be willing to help them out with this being an Olympic season and more importantly, with two (stronger) teams ahead of G/P in the country. My only hope is that their repulsive actions will not be reflected on the two other teams who have nothing to do with this mess.

Yes, Piper should probably have a lovely sit down with Bourne and figure out how to ride out this ordeal. It's unfortunate that social media has picked this up but I guess the season is early enough that it may die down before the major events.
 
It's reported on Twitter than Weaver/Poje are going back to their "Je Suis Malade" FD! :eek:

ETA: I know the reaction to their Spartacus FD at Autumn Classic was a bit lukewarm, but I was kind of looking forward to seeing it develop. This must be a very recent decision, they mentioned nothing of it in their Skate Canada pre-event call last week ....

Here are some of the problems. First of all the attention came with Carol Lane announcing on national television that you cannot get fair marks in Russia...People have their own opinions but for a commentator on national television who has teams in the mix to say something like that is really bad news...I believe CBC is not private but public...There have been complaints in the past and I noticed they did not announce who was going to be commentating b4 the show started.CDn's are very proud of our country and good sportsmanship and this sort of thing gives us a bad name and makes us feel ashamed. Skate Canada has always had their little pets but there is new blood now at Skate Canada so I have a feeling this nonsense may not fly so well. I guess we will have to see what happens with their marks at their next competition but perhaps Piper should work more on her skating skills and interpretation than social media.
 
Wow! I know we've seen ice dancers go back to old programs when their new ones were not working out, but I don't know if I remember a team bringing back a program from six seasons ago. With the Latin SD, it's almost recreating their 2011-2012 season.

I have always loved Je Suis Malade....does anyone remember who did the choreography for this?
 
OK. So they are going back to a very old program that was never marked as it should have.
I sure hope it's not the copy&paste one of that old piece but I sure hope Morozov doesn't destroy the spirit of it. Oh well. I'm crossing fingers.
 
Holy smokes! That is probably one of their best programs, but to actually bring it back, especially at this point in the season is :eek:. Was Spartacus really so awful that they couldn't save it? I thought they just needed more time with it.
 
Apparently it's on their ISU bio. I am beyond disappointed. I guess when it's your last season as competitor you want to have program you love...
It's just so lazy to do that. Going back 6 years ago to a program that you know the crowd love. Looks like they don't want to create something new but rest on... not even existing success ?
I'm confused. And yet this is very risky because you know that people will compare how you skated to it in 2012 and might say "I preferred it that way". Even riskier because we are now in late october, and the Olympics are in february.. Why why why ?
 
I support this decision because this may be their last season and they need to be able to believe in the programs they are skating to, especially in the very important Olympic season. However I may feel about this decision, I'm all about being proactive and recognizing that you shouldn't have to work so hard to make a program work when you're really not feeling it. The difference between that and say what P/C did last season was that P/C never doubted their programs (they found the first piece themselves) and really believed in it and knew they needed time for it gel whereas it seems the same could not be said about WeaPo and Spartacus. It also looks like Lori may need some more time as an ice dance choreographer, especially for IJS under COP. It goes to show you as much as we criticize ID choreography, choreographing for ID is not easy.

they do take a risk with Spartacus, unfortunately as I heard it didn't get a good review from the international judges at ACI, so I guess they didn't had a choice. Hopefully it's not the old dance as it is and that they changed it. Honestly, its not that worst as having a "new" program that looks exactly like old programs that have been done
 
What on earth do they have to lose going back to "Je Suis Malade"? Really? With V&M coming back, they've already lost everything.
So at least, going back to a program that got snubbed by the judges, where they'll skate their hearts out? That's IMO clever. It's not as if they came back with Maria de Buenos Aires (althoug I'd have loved them to do so).

I'm sure I'm forgetting some changes, but since 2012 the number of lifts in the FD was reduced and dancers are required to do two different choreographic elements (lift, spin, or twizzles).

They're losing nothing. That is why it's disappointing, they took the easiest way. But they already lost while performing this program. It's like they're accepting that they're aiming for bronze, and that is also disappointing while not being the better state of mind to take a medal.

I'm probably gonna enjoy it, and I understand that they want to have fun on competition, and they also might think that they got dumped by judges (I still remember their comment at worlds 2016) so they're going back to a program that could work. But they chose not to take risks. It surprises me.
 
I'm surprised because I thought they had this vision with Spartacus, and now it's like they didn't. I thought the whole point of going to Morosov was to find out who they really were...and now they're going to a program they did 6 years ago.
 
I don´t think Je Suis Malade was snubbed by the judges at all. They just lost the bronze I personally think they should have won to Pechalet and Bourzat at a Worlds held in France. They were never going to be put ahead of them, especially in France, but that was their breakout program that was widely enjoyed by fans and officials all over.

That and Maria de Buenos Aires are their best work. I'm not sure how it will go bringing back an old program but it's not as if there is a lot of originality amongst the top teams in ice dance and I do think that style of interpretation really works for them, not the crap they've put out since moving to Morozov. So good luck to them! Don´t think order will change much in the grand scheme of things but will be nice seeing them skate to something that is really them.

That program was the absolute best they had. It had everything, I don't know how many times I've watched it.

They'll have to change the program : upgrade levels in step sequences, one less lift (even changing them since the requirements aren't the same aymore), add the choreographic elements, better transitions since they've obviously upgrade their game too. But it has to feel new, and saying all of that makes me wonder how different it will look compared to 2012... a lot of things have changed in Ice Dance since that year.
