Ice Dance . . . The final frontier.

This is the thread for all things ice dance.

It's continuing mission: to provide a place for fans of all ice dance teams to discuss their favorite heart-stopping moments, tear-inducing mistakes, WTF decisions, costume malfunctions, and whatever else The Next Generation throws at us.

To boldly go where no fans have gone before.

And we need Data to tell us who is Number One.

Grr. I blame whatever commenter it was that was griping about how "she" was better than "him." She has grown a lot as a skater and has a more mature look, but he is a wonderful performer with a lot of life and exuberance to him. Many teams don't have the versatility these two had as a team.

Will the Korean Fed let them go after the mandatory season off? It's probably too soon to know if either of them is planning to switch Feds.

I’m wondering if the split has to do with Ye’s vision challenges.

He recently posted that he had corrective vision surgery and it sounded like he had been competing for awhile with double vision issues.

I imagine it will take some time for him to recuperate and maybe Hannah didn’t want to wait it out?

I’ve been armchair harping that she needs a better matched partner  It’s always a dangerous game though. Who is to say she’ll find another successful partnership? She’s too talented for this to be the premature end of the road. :drama:

But that doesn’t diminish the positive qualities the partnership and that it did result in some interesting and lovely dances created.

Ye’s errors have been really costly…it feels like his twizzles are regressing. Missing the free dance at the Olympics might have been the straw that broke the camel’s back in them having a productive partnership.

:fragile: I had a bad feeling we weren't done with midpack splits after the week of Canadian partnership doom, but Lim/Quan weren't on my worry shortlist.

This is a tough split (though at least it seems about as amicable as these things get) but I hope they are both able to find happy and productive new partnerships. I'll be interested to see what where they go in terms of both countries and coaching. I know Ye's been with Benjamin Brisebois since he was a little kid but maybe it's time for at least one of them to move on.

Believe it or not, I literally had the thought a couple of days ago that "I hope Lim and Quan don't split.
Sigh. I hope she in particular finds someone.
Canada would love to have her back after the devastation of ice dance splits in the last few weeks, not to mention Beau//Bash which already happened last quad.

The very emotional FD at Worlds had me wondering, but I just thought it was more related to challenges they had in the season and not making the free at the Olympics.

I admit I had the thought this season that Ye has been dragging them down a bit with the twizzle errors, but their chemistry and lifts are amazing, not something that is easy to bring into a new partnership. And they were really on the rise, particular early season, and they comfortably made it into top 25 in WR, which is a huge deal.

Now they have to start all over again, might sit out and will be needing to work themselves upwards before next Olympics.

I was expecting at least one unexpected split or retirement post-Olympics.. it seems it´s this one for me.
