The horror is unimaginable. Condolences to all those who lost lives and/or were injured, and their families and friends.

This kind of terrorist attack is becoming all too common, because it is so easy to do it, with a vehicle. Truly horrifying and scary.

I´m on holidays and suddenly my phone started to get messages, they were all my friends and acquaintances from Barcelona, letting know they were well and asking about others.

For a moment it was like the Madrid M-11 attack, when I couldn´t know about family and friends

Spain has been in level 4 (of 5) in the risk of a terrorist attack since 2015. There had been arrests and aborted intents some published others just gossiped.

Royal Spanish house published this message:

"Son unos asesinos, simplemente unos criminales que no nos van a aterrorizar. Toda España es Barcelona. Las Ramblas volverán a ser de todos." / They are murderers, simply criminals than cannot terrorize us. All Spain is Barcelona. Las Ramblas will belong to everyone again.

My best wishes for those injured, my condolences to the families of the victims, and thank you to all the people of good heart that wish my country well.

A seven year old Australian boy is missing. His mum is in a serious condition in hospital and his dad is flying there to help search. I can not imagine the horror of being in the attack, let alone being separated from your child and being unable to find him. I hope this doesn't hamper the mum's recovery and that the boy is found soon.

Praying for everyone affected. Does anyone have any donation sites taking funds specifically for those affected?

ABC had an interview with an US woman who was in the pathway of the van. She said she knew she needed to jump out of the way. There was a teenage boy standing beside her with proverbial deer in headlights look on his face. She grabbed him by the arm and jerked him down with her. The van hit an older man standing beside them. She kept her head, didn't panic and saved this kid's life.

Suicide bombers are bad enough, but the drivers of the two vans, were cowards. They jumped out and ran away. I hope the police find them soon.

This makes me especially sad. I have such fond memories of Barcelona from the GPF. The city was so festive and friendly, and it was great getting to meet so many FSUers.

Words just fail me. Horrific, horrible and my heart goes out to the victims and their families are starting to sound clichéd because they're used to often.
Why do some people have such hatred in their heart and what can we do to finally stop them?

They found the little boy! Some good news, although not sure what condition he is in but is in the hospital. I love Barcelona and am excited to be back there in a few weeks, I was also in Nice and in London an I still feel much safer in Europe than going to the States and of course is much safer statistically too so don't let fear stop you.

I fear they are simply waiting for formal identification The little boy's father flew into Spain last night to be greeted by a pack of paparazzi with cameras in his face. Such a sad situation, my heart goes out to them all.
