Tara Lipinski's wedding

Thanks Sylvia and everyone who've provided links!

Congratulations to Tara and Todd! :summer: I wish them a very happy life together.

Beautiful if questionable setting. Apparently they hold several events at that Plantation including weddings. Helps to pay for the upkeep I guess. Not to my taste but to each his own.

I LOVE Tara's gown, it is GORGEOUS ! Lovely veil too. The train is a bit longer than what I would choose but whatever makes her happy! :) She and I seem to have the same taste as far as lace and pastels. I watched a tour of her home once (forget on what show) but it's a dream! She has excellent taste when it comes to decorating imo! :D

eta: The Southern 'comfort' food! The milkshakes with Kahlua! I was drooling and I gained at least 15 pounds just reading the menu!

From listening to the podcast, I got that Tara is sweet as pie and very in love and that she found a very very nice man to be her lifetime love.

She deserves everything she has materialistically because she earned it, and is still working hard at making a great living, good for her. They will have a great life together, he's got a great job too.

Loved the dress, flowers, everything! So happy for her.

I love Tara's color palette for her wedding, her dress and veil, almost everything! The flowers were maybe a little bit overboard in the reception area but otherwise gorgeous wedding overall!

I'm not sure what to think about how she handled the whole wedding thing. Some things just feel so staged and for show. But maybe it's just who she is.

I was a bit surprised by her dress. After the bridal shower photos, I thought her dress would be closer to Sasha Cohen's - ethereal and rather understated. Not a fan of the veil, it seems very massive but it could also be the photos.

Either way, she seems to be on cloud 9 and I hope for her that it'll last forever!

My guess, given the in depth nature of the coverage and the way the vendors names were mentioned, makes me think they received some $$ or in-kind contributions to the festivities.

Most of us won't have that opportunity, so I can't judge them for that. She might have been encouraged by NBC to use her wedding as a publicity opportunity. Networks like it when their commentators raise their profile. For example, when Erin Andrews went from ESPN to Fox, Fox asked that she seek out some endorsement opportunities that would advertise on TV in prime time.

I think the coverage is very tasteful. The ceremony looks lovely.

I think Tara's husband is the best looking compared to MK's and Sasha Cohen's.

I don't find Clay Pell good looking at all. I assume the attraction was common interests/intellect. Sasha and Tara's husbands look about the same to me. Good looking enough guys.

I think Sasha had the best dress of the three. Not a cookie cutter strapless dress. So tired of those.

Sasha had the better dress by far.

Michelle's (ex) husband is my type. I don't find Tara's husband good-looking at all.

Tara's wedding was way too OTT for me. Hate the flowers

^^^ Well then, I would imagine that those lovely hydrangeas probably don't give a whiff about your negative 'tude either. :D And Tara's too busy to care. Why don't we leave Michelle K and her ex out of this, which they well are anyways! :drama:

It ain't so much about looks in any case. You barkin' up the wrong tree if you judgin' anybody, and especially potential suitors solely by your preferences in the 'looks' department. :COP:

@Justathoughtabl, I agree with your earlier assessments mostly. Thing about it is, J&T are 'spirit animals' it seems. And JWeir always seems to have Tara's back, even though they do disagree on live tv. Still Johnny keeps it light, even when Tara says contradictory, annoying or wrong stuff in that confident way she has about her.

Yes, Aftershocks. J&T have very good chemistry. I think that photo of him fixing her train, posed for People on not, encapsulates their relationship pretty well. He's a calming presence who also makes her laugh. And he adores her.

I hadn't seen Sasha's dress but went to check it out after reading the posts here. GORGEOUS. It looks like it was inspired by 1930s fashion. And I love the understand veil, and her hair swept up.

Tara's dress is pretty. It's a little more on the safe side, but that's kind of her style. She doesn't really like to go out there too much and tends to stick to the same silhouettes. I admire how she looks good in everything she wears. When you're as petite as she is, that can be tough. (I've got about an inch and a half on her and I find it tough sometimes.) She no doubt has a great tailor, but she also knows how to pick what looks good on her.

Any wedding that has "exclusive" photo coverage that includes shoutouts to contributors like florists, caterers, event planners and the like - it's a pretty safe bet that the bride and groom got some freebies there, in exchange for the publicity, and/or that they sold exclusive rights to the photos to offset the wedding costs.

Tara's lovestruck quote is from Kiersten White, The Chaos of Stars -- (a paranormal fiction writer)
"And I’d choose you; in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, in any version of reality, I’d find you and I’d choose you." :inavoid:

Hope it last longer than MK's...

I think Tara's husband is the best looking compared to MK's and Sasha Cohen's.
This almost sounds like "Keeping Up With The Joneses" or hoping that Tara's marriage doesn't work out because Michelle's didn't. These are individual women that were all three Olympians and still have lives just like anyone else does ... just like we do. People in general also have beautiful weddings every day. :cheer2::respec:

I agree with @taf2002. Was it a contest?

I guess Tara, Michelle, and Sasha will always be in competition with one another. Will we be comparing their children (if they have any) as well?

Heaven help us! :drama: I seriously doubt that Tara, Michelle, and Sasha feel that way. ;) But judging by some of the comments in this thread, as pertains to figure skating fans, your wise observation has wings, sadly, as does your sarcasm.

Sasha and Tara's husbands look about the same to me. Good looking enough guys.

:duh: I agree with other posters that it's not a contest of any kind. Neither do Tom May and Todd Kapostasy 'look the same.'

Suffice to say that each of these petite ladies with larger-than-life skating careers, chose wedding dresses that worked for them. And I'm sure fond memories of their special days will last forever, despite the ultimate outcome of their respective marriages. Life is a journey that's different for everyone. Just as figure skating careers are different for every skater.

Again, they are not competing with each other in the journey of life, style of wedding dress, or respective mate. Each of these ladies are way too busy living their lives to care what any of us think.

The elephant doesn't care what Tara wore on her wedding day or how her husband looks either:

I assume you mean they'll be in competition with one another in skating fans' eyes. She doesn't dwell on it at all, but on the podcast Tara has talked about how she still gets hate messages from Michelle fans, and that she and Michelle have discussed the rivalry and agree how silly it is to pit those two against each other all these years later. They get along fine and truly wish each other well.
