One of my favorites of theirs. I have "The Carpenters" album that it was on. The first album in our house besides my dad's piano records was Close To You. (Not even The Beatles! We always bought the 45s of everything on the radio. I seriously can't remember "my" first album.)

ETA - I walked away from the computer and duh - Bobby Sherman. Even before the Partridge Family.

I'm not exactly sure which category regarding this song by Lloyd Price back in 1963. This record was included in a box of 45's mailed to my dad from my uncle that lived in Ohio. He worked for a jukebox company in the 60's and part of the early 70's in that location, and changed out all the records about every 3 or 4 months with the latest hits.

I don't know how many jukeboxes he managed, but it must have been several. A lot of the records that he mailed to my dad had "Disc Jockey Record. Not for sale" on the labels. All those records were handed down to me, and there were so many artists that I couldn't begin to name them all.

I never had to order any of those albums and CD's from the Time/Life commercials because I already had them. Anyway, I'm not sure of the category whether it's Soul, Pop or Soft Rock, but I've always loved the song.

Love that version of "Misty"! (Have never heard it before. More familiar with the Johnny Mathis version.) It seems to fit in the same category as pop songs by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, etc. with the big band backing at a supper club during the 1950s/60s or something similar. Ray Stevens' version of Misty is kind of fun. It always cracks me up when he gets to the line ". . . and a thousand violins begin to play" and it's like "cue the fiddles!" :rofl:

I've googled Amanda a few times over the last few years trying to figure out what happened to her. All three of her albums went platinum in Canada, so it's not like there isn't interest from a record label in having her put out music. Supposedly she performs in concert in some small place every now and then. I've wondered if she has had mental health issues keeping her from continuing with her career. Or maybe she realized she just did not like the spotlight. A mystery either way...

Didn't know where else to put this. I was reading the list of Old Vinyl Records That Have Grown in Market Value

I HAD THIS RECORD. It was on a yellow label, not the orange and yellow label the Beatles had later (or the Apple one). I may have mentioned 2 or 50 times that my two friends had older sisters and we altogether bought practically every 45. And they kind of got mixed up in other people's 45's. (I still have somebody's She's My Girl by the Turtles. I have all of my old 45s.) I mentioned to Shauna back when we used to go to bars in the 80's that I remembered that I never got back this one and Cecelia. Shauna said her sister sold all of "her" 45s at a garage sale. Pam died a long time ago (diabetes). Can I kill Shauna?

“Love Me Do” and “P.S. I Love You” graced this album. The songs were written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, and the vinyl album was released in 1963. “Love Me Do” was The Beatles’ debut single. It was released in the UK as a single in 1962, where it peaked at number seventeen on the charts.

In 1982, 20 years after the original single hit the charts, “Love Me Do” would be re-released and reach number four. When the single was released to the US in 1964, it immediately became a number-one hit. The vinyl was recorded at EMI Studios in London, England.

While I was thinking of my 45s last night, I went through them. I Saw Her Standing There/I Want to Hold Your Hand IS IN THE P.S. I Love You/Love Me Do sleeve. It IS the blue one like in the picture. I guess it's not valuable without the record, huh? It's kind of beat up too. And I know why it was in that sleeve. I Saw Her Standing There/I Want to Hold Your Hand was my first Beatles record in preschool after I saw them on the Ed Sullivan Show. It was the one with their black and white pictures on the front. (Funny - It Won't Be Long just came on the internet radio.) I used to take the sleeve with me everywhere (I swear I remember sitting in the back seat of the car asking my mom who her favorite Beatle was from the pictures on the sleeve), and it got too torn, so we put it with the other one in that sleeve. That probably stretched out the seams.

So, I have 53 45s. The most "recent" was Valotte by Julian Lennon. The oldest would be The Poky Little Puppy. I still have the read-along book in a box in the closet. I always say this, but we went from The Poky Little Puppy to the Beatles over one weekend. "And the rest is history." ha ha

Just saw this post and I am compelled to respond.

When I was a young high schooler, I admit to being smitten by just about everything Barry sang. (I even sang "I Write the Songs" in my school talent show, lol.) Cut to a few years later and I wasn't smitten anymore.

As an adult, I'm not sure what I saw in him back then... something must have struck a chord in me. But I have to say, while I was living in NYC, Barry actually attended one of my performances, came backstage and gave me a very nice hand written congratulatory card. He was very nice and I was quite flattered.
