Might seem like a random topic but I was just hit by someone without insurance. My sister's car was totaled a few months ago by an uninsured driver and my spouse was hit a couple years ago by another uninsured driver. I have wanted a dash cam for a while but I feel like it is just necessary at this point because people will just simply lie to attempt to save their own asses. Thankfully the gas station nearby today had footage of this accident which mirrored my story to the police and nothing like what the other person said but I will always no be so lucky so has anyone put a dash cam in their car? Did you do it yourself or pay some one to do it? If you paid for installation how much was it? Any model recommendations? I have been looking at YouTube and amazon for the past 2 hours and it is honestly so confusing and most of the videos just seem to be sponsored videos in disguise. Any help appreciated!

You should be able to buy dash cams at any Auto Parts store in their electronics section. They would be able to show you options for different installation types.

My dil was in an accident last week, where her car was totaled and she has back injuries. The driver was insured at the min. amount of $25,000. However their car is (was) a Tesla and $25,000 wont cover anything really - car, hospital costs, treatment costs.

The Tesla had video footage and it is clear that the driver made zero attempt to stop. The police didn't want to see the footage. He got charged with a following too closely ticket. I know that her insurance has video - but what good it will do, I don't know.

Not sure a dash cam video will do much based on their experience.
