Angel Gates, co-founder of HUDSY ("The Hudson Valley's first video streaming app featuring community-inspired stories about or filmed in the region https://watchlocal.hudsy.tv/), has directed an 18-minute film about Jacob Sanchez (co-produced by his mom Johana) that premieres at the Woodstock Film Festival - watch the 45-second trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldbGfeW6n_g

I hope to be able to watch online (haven't figured out the details yet):

ABOUT THE FILM: Jacob Sanchez, a young and determined Latino figure skater in a sport that lacks diversity and has plenty of stigmas and challenges, uses his talent, perseverance, and passion to push himself to become a Junior Olympics star—and now he has set his sights on the 2026 Olympics in Milan. This documentary sparks conversations about diversity, determination, and the unbreakable bonds of family in the pursuit of one’s dreams, meanwhile showcasing the profound love and dedication of Jacob’s parents and his extraordinary coaches, former-Olympians themselves [Oleg Makarov, Larisa Selezneva], who have become instrumental in shaping his talent.

ETA that the cost is $12 to stream online all 6 HUDSY short films as a package: https://watch.eventive.org/woodstock2023/play/64dbe48abeebe4007441adee
