There's a world of difference between the Liechtenstein monarchy and the British monarchy though. Liechtenstein itself is barely on the news in Germany, if at all. I don't recall that it ever was.
Yep, a very under-stated royal family who rule over a tiny principality at that, situated in the alps between Austria and Switzerland. It's quite a picturesque place: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liechtenstein
The other thing about the Liechtensteins which sets them apart is: they are the wealthiest royal family in Europe (due to a legacy of centuries of banking wealth maintained via close ties to the church and major ruling benefactors). I'm sure it's cool to be wealthy and under-the-radar, which this family has apparently made an art out of accomplishing. No Monaco-like royal family scandals, squabbles, and tragedies for the Liechtensteins!

The specific similarities to Meghan & Harry, and the main reason I mention Max and Angela are: Max is the second son of the current Prince of Liechtenstein (it's a constitutional monarchy). Max fell in love with an older woman of color (Angela, a fashion designer, is 11 years older than Max, but she hadn't been married before). They met in 1997 in New York City, while he was attending school there. She was a fashion designer with her own company. They became friends and soon after, fell in love.
Probably if Angela had not been a woman of color, their wedding would have been more widely celebrated when it took place at a NYC church, in January 2000, since Angela grew up in New York. Most likely, though they intentionally kept their romance and eventual wedding as much under-the-radar as possible, as that is this family's M.O. (modus operandi). They were even more protective of their only child's privacy, and lucky to have him too, as Angela was 41, nearly 42 when they married, and 43 when she gave birth to Prince Alfons on May 18, 2001, in London.

"The marriage was groundbreaking, bringing a person of Afro-Panamanian ancestry into one of the few still reigning families in Europe by a marriage which obtained the prior consent and full support of the groom's sovereign and father, who also attended the wedding. While some members of the dynasty were said to be shocked and to consider the interracial marriage 'the end of an era', others were said to have expressed support."
LOL at that 'end of an era' sentiment

And this is aside from the fact that Prince Albert fathered a son out of wedlock with a woman of African ancestry, prior to his marriage to Charlene.

Princess Angela's wedding dress, which she designed, has similar lines and styling to Meghan's wedding dress:

Of course, Harry also made sure to keep his courtship with Meghan as quiet as possible (which he planned to do regardless of who he met, fell in love with and chose to marry). Still, there's no escaping the white-hot spotlight of being a member of the British royal family. The storied ancient history and vast global influence of the British royals is what sets them apart.
